  1. Per ESPN.com NHL Rumors Insider. If anyone could turn around the Bruins season, it would be Kovy. It will be interesting to see what he costs whatever team trades for him.
  2. We both know that would be impossible 700. You are never wrong.
  3. You spent all offseason mocking the idea that having a good defensive player in left field improves the team, thinking you'd have Damon in left. And then the Yankees go out and sign a left fielder whose best aspect is his defense. The irony is delicious.
  4. 700 is right that him always believing he is right has been a theme lately. In his words yesterday,
  5. Park adjusted stats are the only fair way to compare a guy who's been hitting in Fenway/Yankee Stadium to a guy who's been hitting in Shea Stadium, PetCo Park and Miller Park. And like I've demonstrated multiple times now, they show the two as eerily similar offensive players.
  6. Yeah, it's a decent signing for the money he's probably going to cost. I'm really glad the Yankees didn't get Damon though, he's obviously much better.
  7. There are park factors for hits and walks though. It wouldn't be too hard to tabulate a rough park adjusted OBP.
  8. How... ambiguous? :dunno:
  9. What are your favorite words, 700?
  10. The last 6 years is a rather curious time frame. Even so, over the last six years Damon's averaged a 114 OPS+ and Cameron's averaged a 111 OPS+. No matter what sample size you use, they're similar offensive threats. And just as an aside, it's incredible how consistent Cameron has been. He's averaged a 111 OPS+ over the last six years, he had a 111 OPS+ last year and a 111 OPS+ the year before.
  11. The Yankees signed Randy Winn to a 1-year deal. That should wrap up the speculation about Damon returning. Damon had a 122 OPS+ last year, Winn had a 75 OPS+. In the words of Jacko, when he described the dropoff in offense from Bay's 131 OPS+ to Cameron's 111 OPS+, that kind of dropoff is...
  12. A couple pieces of news: Bruins likely out on Kovalchuck - http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/bos100125.html Bruins in on Souray - http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Updates-on-Kovalchuk-Phaneuf-and-SourayNylander-to-Jokerit-done/1/25804
  13. I hope this lights a fire under Buch's ass. He strikes me as a guy who has some motivational issues and concentration issues at times.
  14. I doubt it. When has he ever "squawked" in his career? He's been a stand up member of the team.
  15. Wakefield is a big boy, I think he could handle it. He's moved in and out of the bullpen plenty of times over his career and handled it well. I'd rather have a healthy, motivated Wakefield going into Spring Training than a hurt Wakefield. One of our starters is going to get hurt before August next year, they always do. And Wakefield is a great backup plan. Why don't we see what happens in spring training before we make an issue out of having six starters.
  16. As much as people dump on the Mets for being a big market team that doesn't win very often, they've spent less than the Yankees have per win for at least the last 4 years in a row.
  17. For the record, Papelbon, Ramirez and Delcarmen were also signed to non-guaranteed contracts. http://www.abc6.com/sports/82128897.html
