  1. It would be nice if we were able to respond to each other here without acting as if the other poster just insulted your mother. I agree, it does tend to happen far too often.
  2. Yeah, I have a feeling the next time Chamberlain throws a pitch at Youk's head, Jeter's gonna get one in the head with guys like Beckett, Lackey and Buchholz in the rotation.
  3. I didn't pick up the latest issue of the Bill James Handbook, but I did recently find a blog post covering interesting stats that relate to the Yankees. These stats always make for some good discussion. http://waswatching.com/2009/11/14/the-bill-james-handbook-2010/
  4. Just got back from work. Sucks that we lost our 9th in a row... but at least we got points in overtime. Those haven't been easy to come by lately. Looks like Kovalchuck was dealt to the Devils. He was the sexiest name on the market, but it would have really hurt our future to trade for him without being able to extend him.
  5. Woah, woah, woah. That's a completely different case. As you can clearly see, Burnett may have been on the DL 10 times since 2000, but he doesn't get hurt. And even a Red Sox player may has a track record of being healthy, they're a ticking time bomb. Hope that clears up any confusion.
  6. Yes, because we all know that teams repeat the same trends every year. I have a feeling this is just an excuse for you to say, "this is right where we want you" if the Sox are leading the division in the first half.
  7. He's been a horse over most of his career and he's done better against AL East teams (not including the Red Sox) than he has AL West teams (not including the Angels) over his career. There's a chance he gets hurt and only starts 25 games, but there's also a chance that he pitches 200 innings with an ERA around 3.50. PECOTA predicted that he'd match Sabathia in VORP next year.
  8. I think it's safe to say that it's a downside of both rosters with guys like Burnett, Johnson, Posada, Matsuzaka, Drew and Beltre on both teams. But I think Burnett and Johnson are probably the largest injury liabilities on either roster given their past histories (11 DL visits since 2000, playing more than 133 games once in his career).
  9. I think he's a statistical anomaly for a reason, that was my point. I never said I didn't want him to make the majors, I just seriously doubt that he can.
  10. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=308800 The Bruins are believed to be one of the finalists and when they recently put Michael Ryder on the market, the Hawks showed interest. Should be an exciting few days.
  11. Carolina was rumored to be interested, but it's unlikely that Thomas would agree to a trade and he had a no trade clause.
  12. Experienced big league pitchers have enough trouble repeating one delivery. I doubt a young, inexperienced guy could repeat two deliveries consistently enough to become an effective major leaguer. If they could, it probably would have been done before.
  13. He has incredible potential and he's still only 21 years old. I think we should give him at least a couple more years to right himself before we consider him a bust.
  14. Can you post the picture? I doubt you up to this point because you've claimed that you have photographic evidence of something, yet you've yet to provide it.
  15. Sounds pretty fishy to me. Why don't you post a picture of the workout if he in fact did send you some?
  16. Gotta love Boychuck taking OV down to the ice. If he was such a tough guy he wouldn't wear a visor. Very disappointing that the Bruins have played so poorly defensively at the end of the game now. Let's see if they tuck tail or continue to play hard knowing they probably don't have the ability to score 3 goals.
  17. It's 1-1 headed after 2. The Bruins are still playing very well. This is a good one!
  18. The Capitals tied it up but then we beat the best power play in the NHL three times to protect the tie.
