  1. The range stats favor Pedroia and so does isolated power (remember, SLG is basically a weighted AVG). To me talent means ability. I think people think Cano's better because he looks like more of an athlete when in reality Pedroia has far better tools (OBP, isolated power, range, turning the double play, baserunning, etc.).
  2. Truck Day is this Friday, but we already have the first video of Red Sox players in Spring Training this year. I always love this time of year! http://csnne.platformicstaging.com/pages/video_main
  3. I thought this was a pretty funny article (mostly for the wrong reasons) posted on Fox Sports. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/lists/10-guys-who-would-look-good-in-pinstripes#sport=MLB&photo=10880522 Among the highlights, they said that Cano was more talented than Pedroia even though Pedroia gets on base more, has more range, turns more double plays and runs the bases better. Also, they said they'd rather see Crawford in pinstripes than Pujols. Good stuff.
  4. My bad, I meant to say division. Still, the Sabres are one of the better teams in the conference.
  5. Or the Bruins being the first team in the NHL to have a black player.
  6. Bruins win again! This time against the best team in the conference. It's the young guys, Rask and Krejci, that are carrying this team. It certainly looks like we're turning things around now, just in time to get some momentum going into the break.
  7. THE BRUINS WON! THE BRUINS WON! All is right in the world again.
  8. Yeah, Extra Bases said something about him not being a lock for the bullpen because the team's pissed that he hid an injury last year. But he was a good set up guy in 2008 and he was an even better set up guy the first half of 2009 before he got hurt.
  9. I think most people see Wakefield as the long man and I'd have Dustin Richardson as the lefty reliever out of the pen. If Wakefield ends up in the rotation for whatever reason, we could have Bonser as the long man. He's supposedly been throwing well.
  10. You're right, we did score almost half a run more per game once we acquired Victor Martinez.
  11. Yeah, I'm really excited to see how our offense shapes out next year. Bay had some sexy numbers, but he only comes up once every 9 at bats, and he'd strike out 1/3 of them. I'd much rather have a lineup with solid production 1-9 than a lineup with a guy who hits 36 home runs in the middle (he had to be moved down in the order because of inconsistency) and two guys barely hitting .200 in the 8 and 9 spot. If we could get a solid OBP out of either Ellsbury (.389 OBP in the minors) or Scutaro (.379 OBP last year) then our lineup will be much improved. I think our leadoff hitter last year was a pretty big weakness, even with all the stolen bases.
  12. No, but I think our lineup should be almost as good, if not as good as it was last year. It should certainly be more consistent. And was Bay really our most productive hitter last year? I think I'd go with Youkilis.
  13. Nah, you said it right, I was just messing around with you. The term "game" is pretty much used to describe how charismatic guys are with women in the states.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Bill James a Cardinals fan? He's one of the smartest stat guys in baseball who happens to work for the Red Sox. He doesn't compile all these stats himself, I have a hard time believing he takes the information he gets from people working below him, distorts it and releases it as some form of Red Sox paranoia every year in the most respected statistics book that's released every year without someone taking issue with it. I don't think any of these statistics are very surprising either. But it does put a damper on some arguments I've heard like "Cano may make errors, but he's great at turning the double play" or "Posada's an underrated defensive catcher".
  15. Alright big boy
  16. Are you hitting on me now or is that the bock beer I've been drinking?
  17. I wasn't aware I was getting blasted :dunno: As far as I saw it, Jacko did his normal thing by being critical of me (I stopped taking that seriously after his "WAAAAAAAAAAA! Nobody cares what you think" episode) and I pointed out how he was reaching trying to claim a post made by a Yankees fan on a Yankees blog was an attack on the Yankees. I think 26's points were very reasonable and polite.
  18. Yeah, I have to say I'm with you on this one 26.
