  1. 70 pitches through 3 innings? That sounds like something Dice-K would do.
  2. I just looked at his website, it looks so arrogant (and f***ing weird)
  3. I wonder if it has any correlation with bats breaking more often too? Other than the different types of wood used.
  4. It depends on what he wants, what the Sox have, what other teams offer, who else is available, and what he does for the rest of the year. (And what other internal options do this year) And probably a few other things too. That said, if given a yes/no choice I'd more likely want to have him back.
  5. It looks like they moved him to DH and are sitting Big Papi vs. the lefty.
  6. It's also a sign of how times have changed since the steroid era. I vaguely remember 500ft HR's being hit with regular frequency back in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Apparently there were ones supposedly hit even further than that back in time. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_official_longest_home_runs_in_MLB
  7. I know, I just meant to mention that if he was brought over for having caught Dickey before, but he didn't actually catch Dickey now. The only thing I could imagine explaining both factors is that Thole was of use to share his experiences catching Dickey to the Toronto catchers.
  8. Has Thole caught any of Dickey's starts? Or perhaps he shared his knowledge of catching Dickey with Arencibia and other Toronto catchers. Hmmm good point.
  9. Eh I'm mixed on Thole, he's always had a good OBP for a catcher because he can really draw walks. I don't know how any of their defenses are though. It just doesn't make much sense in a trade imo. Then again there's plenty I do not know about being a GM.
  10. Perhaps, but the 2 players Toronto picked up (besides Dickey) are both catchers.
  11. I understand that was the case for Miami. My point was how f***ed Toronto was in the deal because of how poorly their return on investment was to this point. Not to mention for the amount of salary they acquired AND the quality of prospects they gave up.
  12. The Blue Jays/Mets trade was: RA Dickey (2-4 4.50) Josh Thole (career .261/.331/.333/.664) Mike Nickeas (career .180/.241/.238/.479) for John Buck (.264/.296/.593/.889) Noah Syndergaard RHP BlueJays 38th overall pick in 2010 draft. Prior to last season he was ranked by MLB.com as the 95th best prospect in baseball. Travis d'Arnaud (on 1/29/2013 list, #6 on MLB's top 100 prospect list) He was also in the Roy Halladay deal. Wuilmer Becerra was ranked 30th in Blue Jays system prior to trade.
  13. The Blue Jays/Marlins trade was: Josh Johnson (0-1 6.86) Mark Buerhle (1-2 6.43) Jose Reyes (.395/.465/.526/.991) John Buck (.264/.296/.593/.889) Traded to Mets in Dickey deal I'll highlight next. Emilio Bonifacio (.179/.222/.313/.536) for Jeff Mathis (DL all season) Adeiny Hechavarria (.184/.231/.286/.516) Henderson Alvarez (DL all season) Yunel Escobar (.173/.230/.284/.514) but traded to Rays for Derek Dietrich, a SS who was the Rays 2nd round pick of 2010 draft. I think he was the pick taken right before Nicolino. Jake Marisnick (on 1/29/2013 list, #70 on MLB's top 100 prospects list) 22 y/o OF, Toronto's 3rd round pick of 2009 draft. Anthony DeScalfani (Currently pitching in High-A for Marlins) Justin Nicolino (on 1/29/2013 list, #72 on MLB's top 100 prospects list) 21 y/o LHP, Toronto's 2nd round pick of 2010 draft. The Marlins chipped in some money but the Jays are on the hook for a lot.
  14. Don't forget some more money thrown at Melky Cabrera which hasn't panned out thus far. And Jose Reyes had good numbers before getting injured. Also RA Dickey's numbers seemed to have recovered a little. Buerhle, Johnson, and Cabrera though appear to be unmitigated disasters to this point.
  15. I know that it isn't the AL East, but I think we all want to watch Beckett get shelled.
  16. Also the Rays blew the game vs. KC, the Orioles are down 5 vs. Seattle halfway through, and Beckett doesn't seem to be doing too well vs. Colorado early. That combined with the Celtics and Bruins successes should make it a great night for Boston. If only NYY could stay down.
  17. The post you quoted...I was talking about my spelling of Macaulay Culkin. That's what I meant by "I looked it up...and I got it right"
  18. I finally mustered the strength to look it up and it looks like I got it right.
  19. Is it just me or does his face in this pic resemble the guy from Home Alone. I can't spell his first name and I'm too lazy to look it up. Macaulay Culkin or something like that.
  20. This isn't recent but it def makes me laugh. [youtube=Dancing Groundskeeper]?v=WfD10kQQZjo
  21. I told my ex girlfriend that....
  22. ....and the Yankees do it again. They break the tie to take the lead in another close game it looks like they're going to win. If they won only half of these type of games where some carcass from 2006 had a big hit, they'd be near the bottom of the division at this point. The Yankees are the unluckiest...and the luckiest team in the majors at the same time.
  23. Germano has sucked for his career but he did well for us in his one appearance last year. He pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings against the Yankees to pick up after a horrible Franklin Morales start. (We lost to another player who was rejuvenated by the Yankees, Freddy Garcia)
