Usually when games go to extras a starter who was in the middle of the rotation (between having just started and next going to start) is the one that goes up and pitches in extras since it's typically a sidework day anyway.
I'm not going to blame Mortensen if he gives up a run and we lose this one. Dude's done enough for us tonight. We've had plenty of other opportunities to score/prevent them from scoring and failed.
I wouldn't say "get rid of him" as much as I'd say "kick him in the ass and show him how replaceable he is and where he could end up if he doesn't figure it out"
Not to mention that he pitched in a division against 2 really good teams in the Sox and Yankees and in a division with good lineups and small ballparks. I only imagine how many wins he'd have if he were in pinstripes.
At least we deal with the Twins at this point. f*** the Rangers and f*** them hard. Hopefully they can at least be consistent and beat the Yankees/Rays/Orioles
