  1. You would not know this as you only saw the highlights.
  2. If you are just chasing one team down, it's doable. The problem is that the Sox have to pass 2 teams and haven't shown the ability all year to do so. It's very unlikely. Less than 10% chance.
  3. I don't remember those plays? Were highlights shown?
  4. At some point, it's not the coaching's fault, but the players. Right? Duran followed coaching direction and improved his poor defense to be mediocre. Why can't Raffy? Can Casas?
  5. Disagree. 2/3's of TalkSox voters had the Sox under .500. They seem to be wrong.
  6. No, it's simple game theory. The new money ball for owners. If you can't win in a certain division, just swap for an easier division!
  7. Which is exactly why I wouldn't have that play memorized. It's not like an unassisted triple play or something.
  8. Exception proves the rule yada yada yada.
  9. This is the mark of a .500 team. This has been said all season long.
  10. No, you use your "eye test" only on highlights. It's not worth conversing with you over this.
  11. That's different than the difficulty of the play.
  12. No, because I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of every MLB game.
  13. Red Sox should move to Nashville and get in a worse division.
  14. Mediocre fielding play. That catch is made almost nightly in MLB.
  15. Eye test on highlights? Now that's a new low...
  16. He was built for the mid-80's Cardinals lineup in Busch Stadium. He would have won a batting title there.
  17. Giddy when? People got excited when he played well during the WBC. Before then, he was still a big unknown that we hadn't seen.
  18. And the broadcasts note that he does better with the quick throws rather than the ones he has time to think about.
  19. It's not that Raffy is the worst 3B in the league, it's just that his bat is great enough to keep him in the lineup everyday. The other bad fielding 3b's get sent back to AAA or moved to parttime roles at least. (Segura and JD Davis are all worse than Raffy this year per DRS. In 2021 when Devers was -13, Bohm and Dozier were as bad or worse since they played in far fewer innings.)
  20. Cubs tanked and then couldn't keep it going. Astros tanked and then turned into a monster. Dodgers never tanked but figured out how to become a monster. Rays did rays things and nobody can figure out how to replicate it.
  21. 2023 Padres 2023 Mets
  22. Interesting. He deserves a shot and is a good defender.
  23. He's better than Benintendi at least.
  24. Sox are a big market and should act like it. They should be able to pay guys they like.
