  1. Not sure what baserunning has to do with defense?
  2. Damon's -0.6 dWAR in 04 is worse than Devers' this year and you want to move Devers to 1b. His -11 DRS was almost twice as bad as Masa's and people want to either trade or DH him.
  3. I don't think his range would be very good and he'd have trouble with the footwork turning a double play IMO.
  4. I agree that it's very weird that he put together a team with bad defense and a horrible rotation.
  5. In 04, Damon, Manny and Millar were all pretty bad defensively.
  6. I agree with #4 or at least that they attempt to try #4 and Bloom just says "well, we tried it, but we didn't get the right value" and he's still here on Opening Day.
  7. 2021 was a great year, but 2020 and the past two have taken their toll for sure.
  8. 04: Schilling, Pedro, Wake, Lowe, Arroyo: averaged 30+ starts a piece 07: DiceK, Beckett, Wake, Schilling, Lester 13: Lester, Lackey, Dempster, Buchholz, Dubront 18: Porcello, Price, Sale, Eovaldi, ERod Those are 4 really fantastic rotations. That's why pitching and more pitching is always the goal.
  9. To me, not making any real moves at the deadline was the worst option of 3 options for fans. 1. Trade for some players to make moves and the fans get some excitement in the current year. 2. Trade current players so that fans can get a better team in future years. 3. Do nothing and settle for medicority and just keep fans frustrated.
  10. They are already saying things like "building for the future" and that they don't want to do anything that compromises that vision. Clearly, that's their focus. The "competitiveness" is just window dressing to sell tickets and keep people watching for as long as possible during yet another BRIDGE YEAR. After all, it is a business and they still need the $$$.
  11. Re: Brasier We always project them to nontender a few players and it just almost rarely ever happens...
  12. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... WTF?
  13. If the rotation wasn't a dumpster fire that required bullpen games that overworked the bullpen, this team wouldn't be .500.
  14. Yoshida just isn't a likely trade option with all that contract left. That's why Casas makes more sense IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRADE SOMEONE. They may try to sell high on Duran too. However, I don't believe they will trade either. I think Devers is at 3B for a few more years, Duran is somewhere in the OF rotation and Casas is trying to figure out 1B. Yoshida maybe starts to get more DH reps if they don't re-sign Turner, but still sees time in LF. I don't see those 4 guys leaving in the next two years unless they change the composition of the FO.
  15. He's not playing great, but he's also not the reason the Sox are a .500 team. That's solely because of the starting rotation.
  16. Coming up short means he needs to just add some money to get the deal done.
  17. Some fans feel like they have to go for it every year so you can't _____ players at the ______.
  18. His xBA is 81st percentile. His K% is 95th percentile. His Wiff% is 87%. Barrel rate isn't the end all be all. Could he be better? Of course.
  19. The could have ______ Paxton at the ______.
  20. And then later in the year they got together and cheered him when he was still in his funk. He hit a HR, teammates had him do a curtain call, the crowd went wild and Turner put up a billboard thanking them for their support.
  21. ^^^ Teams want major league ready talent since the hit rate on low level players is worse.
  22. Betting odds aren’t one to one for who is most likely to win. It’s about where the money is going and hedging against those bets.
  23. He was pretty good the 2 weeks after signing the deal (988 OPS, 184 wRC+), but nosedived the middle of June.
  24. Since June 3 when he signed: 598 OPS 71 wRC+ Prior: 791 OPS 124 wRC+ Since 6/15: 523 OPS 47 wRC+
