  1. With Paxton, there is the option to offer him a QO. It makes sense to keep him. With Duvall, less so.
  2. They didn't sell and how did it work out? They should have sold last year. They had 3 options this year and I will rank them in order of MY preference: Buy Sell Hold
  3. What we project and what they put on the field will not match. It's an exercise though.
  4. This year: 12th percentile chase rate 16th percentile bb rate 29th percentile xERA (xERA has been below 30 since 2020) I don't see Bloom going for that bb rate. He looked good earlier in his career, but has really fallen apart lately.
  5. It damn well better be.
  6. I don't agree with standing pat. Should have traded some guys and retooled in the offseason again. Maybe Henry didn't want Fenway to empty out? The bones of this team are much stronger than they were 12-18 months ago.
  7. Old Red's boy! He's a long time fan.
  8. Nobody is taking Lugo or Paulino in the Rule 5 draft. The guys that could be taken this year are Bonaci, Ryan Fernandez and other relievers.
  9. He hasn't had one complaint about "the changes to the game" this year, just about the Sox not playing well. Fair!
  10. Jansen probably could have brought back an interesting return. Bloom is definitely hesitant to blow it up for some reason. Sox would have been better to deal off more assets in '22 and '23.
  11. My 93 year old grandfather in law still watches all the games and isn't bothered by the opener. He was just glad they traded that bum Kiké. Some people just need perspective.
  12. The 2021 Red Sox were much higher in the standings from what I remember. This team hasn't spent a day in first place.
  13. The wife is going to have quite the earing collection for a few years then!
  14. Probably not. I meant to quote moon's prior post. Do .145 hitters get arb raises? I think I might want Urias at $4.8M than Arroyo at $2.8M or more. Who know? Maybe we cut him, and you can gloat all spring long.
  15. Bingo bango bongo... ^^^
  16. Career fWAR: Urias 4.4 (age 26) Arroyo 0.4 (age 28) Chang 0.9 (age 27) Urias was injured at the start of the season. His July OPS in AAA is 839. Maybe he can turn it around? Maybe he doesn't? His ceiling is higher than what we currently have though because he's shown it at the MLB level in two straight years.
  17. Yu Chang also never had seasons like Urias had in 2021 and 2022. He was injured at the beginning of 2023. If he can turn it around, he's better than any of the other 2B options they have now. They traded a potential Rule 5 guy for him. It was a fine trade. If it doesn't work out, it's no big loss. If it works out, you have a real everyday starting 2B until the younger guys are ready to emerge.
  18. Also, by whose measure is BAL better than BOS? Fangraphs has the Sox #3 and O's #8. O's were a bad franchise for a long, long time. They were able to build up that farm system while the Sox have just recently been building it up. A few years ago they were dead last.
  19. Now compare OBP for each!
  20. Not in the Sox org.
  21. Fun fans and boring fans.
  22. He heated up once the sun helped his tanning sessions. Maybe he needs a clubhouse tanning bed?
  23. Might feel good too.
  24. I'm a Pocket Casts guy myself.
