Lorenzen really has been a reliever for most of his career. I didn't want to send much for that guy. Civale's xFIP is 2 runs higher than his ERA. Flaherty really took a step back this year. Those guys could help you down the stretch, but they aren't going to carry your staff or win you a playoff series. Very 2013 Jake Peavyish, if you're projecting what they could bring to your rotation.

Turner was quoted as saying the only time the Dodgers won a WS was the deadline when they didn't make any moves. Verdugo said he played more relaxed after the deadline. Really hard to say definitively how they will play here on out. Last year, it was a total tank job. Maybe this year will be different as it seems to be a different vibe in the clubhouse.

How he was perceived by fans. I think trading Mookie really shook up the fanbase in their beliefs of ownership and the direction of this franchise. Mookie fWAR 2020 2.8 2021 3.9 (his "injured/down" year) 2022 6.5 2023 4.7 (6.6 projected) Seems like this team could have still used him in the lineup.

Yeah, even I'm not foolish enough to make predictions about what Bloom will do at the trade deadline. I may suggest what I would do, but I have no idea what he would do. 21: nobody expected Schwarber 22: nobody expected him to trade Vaz and then sit on the rest of the expiring contracts and then go over the CBT like a f***ing idiot

The opinion on Henry changed the day Mookie was traded. It has more to do with that than the wins and losses IMO.

@redsoxstats After the trade deadline passed last year, this series of events instantly started happening: Tanner Houck on the 15-day IL Chris Sale breaks wrist in bike accident Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day IL James Paxton tears lat in rehab start Kutter Crawford on the 15-day IL Maybe the pendulum will swing the other direction this year. Still may not be enough to get into the postseason. Bloom doesn't think so anyway.

Maybe some team still believes in his upside especially a crappier team like the A's that can keep him on their roster for 90 days and then can option to him to the minors next May and retain his control for a few years.

Bloom is responsible for "all" by being responsible for his direct reports. Thank you for agreeing with me. His main job is not the wins and losses of the MLB club.

Yeah, his job is to make sure that BOH, Crockett, Romero, Toboni and others are doing their jobs. Bloom (or any one person) is physically incapable of doing all the things that people like to put on him. If you don't like how the Red Sox Org Chart is set up, you should talk to them.

His main job is not the record of the big league club. That's not on his resume.

I'm not doing PR for Bloom. I don't care about Bloom. I've always said that he could be fired today and it wouldn't impact me at all. I grade him like a C/C+ overall and it's pulled down because of the MLB team. If you disagree with my assessment of how the organization is run it's fine. You'd be wrong, but it's fine.

Ahhh, his stuff definitely looks like he hadn't throw a ball in 3 years. It's been rough. He's probably not a starter going forward unfortunately.

I would imagine that a garbage team like the Nats or A's would have room for him the last two months of the year. They only have to keep him on the active roster for 90 days now. Easy peasy for them.
