Ownership doesn't care about 2024, year 1 of this deal. Ownership cares about years 2-6 of this deal. We are currently on a very long bridge and I don't know when the exit will be.

Bad contract. He was likely to get injured was a ticking time bomb performance wise. The only suspect was Pedroia's health!

You're missing a lot o the backstory though. We spent YEARS litigating whether or not to trade JBJ every year. When he was finally gone, it was like a veil had been lifted on the forum. When Bloom brought him back, it was just all so confusing due to the layers of conversations we had over the years. I'd be like Henry bringing Bloom back next season as Sam's Assistant.

JBJ's playing weight was 196. He did hit his weight every year he played in BOS, FYI.

Should have just traded Dustin to make room for Mookie at 2B.

For the most part, the majority of the board didn't like this trade. At best, it was wait and see. Sox should have held onto Renfroe. Some of the shine from the '21 season would have worn off eventually though.

Trading Renfroe isn't even at the level of trading Verdugo. C'mon. Renfroe will be on his 7th team in 6 years this season. Bloom was just continuing Renfroe's musical chair journey.

Pablo Lopez hasn't been a real MiLB player since 2018. "The MIA org isn't very good at the moment." The last few years, the farm has taken a bit of a nosedive. Also, the previous director wasn't let go, but promoted to interim GM when Ng left.

His Fielding Percentage (old school cool) at 2b is really high and most people that have worked hands on with him believe he'll work out there fine long term. He won't be Pedroia over there, but should be average once he's comfortable. The problem with the "he's a kid" is that this seems to be what the organization is holding out for. They are putting all their eggs on many of these prospects working out. I love prospects. I like a few of these prospects a lot. Not every prospect works out! The Sox don't have a history, especially recently, of churning out MLB talent from their farm. This is a very risky thing to try with this fanbase. They want a long term rebuild on an expensive product. This is John Henry's fingerprints. If there isn't a WS in the next decade, it's not because of the long line of CBO's but because of the restrictions put in place by the owner.

Bloom could never do the Sale or Verdugo trades. He's too much of a wimp.

So far, the only people saying things that get them in trouble are John, Tom and Sam. The 3 Freakin' Stooges as moon said back when Sale was traded for.
