  1. It shows that he thinks on a much higher level than others and may have tendency to talk above others. Just because he fixed that one situation doesn't mean there isn't more to learn IMO.
  2. @SoxProspects Corey Rosier went 2-for-5 with a double (4) and a stolen base (8) in last night's 9-5 Glendale Desert Dog victory. The 24-year-old outfielder has slashed .303/.391/.382 over 87 PA in this year's Arizona Fall League. He is #44 on the #SP60. Throwback type player.
  3. In CHC, the first presentation he gave was so far above everyone's heads that he had to go dumb it down and redo the whole presentation for everyone. I think he still has a lot to learn.
  4. They got rid of the IF defense coach.
  5. I never said he was the only way. I'm just saying that they should CONSIDER IT if the right trade came along. Sure, they could try FA or other trades too.
  6. Mayer hit well to start the year in High A and his prospect status increased in a few rankings. At some point, he was injured in AA and tried to play through it. I think most scouts are still excited about him.
  7. Maybe instead of pitching coach he's brought in as an EVP of Pitching similar to the role Breslow had in CHC?
  8. He's holding him at arms length so that he can dump him after a bad move or two IMO.
  9. To me, Keller is just a newer version of Derek Lowe.
  10. Not without TOTR staters.
  11. Bloom couldn't pull off trades to make the team better and spent 2023 beating himself up over the Story and Masa signings. He also did a terrible job at communicating with the Cora and the players. If he fixes those two problems, the Sox will be much better off. I've said previously that I liked the idea of Bloom, but that I didn't like the day to day execution of Bloom.
  12. Important upcoming dates: Nov 6: FA can sign with new teams. Nov 6: Contract options are due. QO offers are due. Nov 7-9: GM meetings. Nov 14: Deadline for Rule 5 protection. Nov 14: QO decision by player deadline. Nov 17: Non-tender deadline. Dec 3-6: Winter meetings. Dec 5: Draft lottery. Sox have 12%ish chance at lottery pick. Dec 6: Rule 5 Draft extravaganza!
  13. All I'm saying is CONSIDER IT. I'm not saying go and make it the first move. If you can get a really great pitcher for Mayer, you should do it. Mitch Keller? No. Someone that is clearly a #1 or close to it.
  14. If it's solely money, they throw it at 2 starters and trade for the RHB because there aren't many available in FA this year.
  15. One out of three ain't bad.
  16. Would you rather have Mayer play some pretty good ball for a long time and no rings or trade him for a TOTR starter and have a better shot at another ring?
  17. Just didn't cut it enough in 2022.
  18. Henry stated a the winter event that they weren't going to go over in 2023.
  19. Sox have money, but these pitchers are coming off the books from somewhere else. The only team that is really closing up shop is SD. Everyone else will still have their share to spend.
  20. How did they feel about Lynn? He retire here? Mookie still here?
  21. If they could acquire both guys, Ben would be happy to.
  22. He left Casas and that's about it. Nobody else had trade value at the time he was still here. Everyone else was so far away and hadn't climbed the ladder yet. Even Houck was an after thought until 2020.
  23. So don't trade Bagwell for Larry Andersen? Trade the top tier prospects for starting pitchers not setup guys.
  24. Seems like an overpay for Bednar/Keller IMO.
