  1. Trade him at the deadline no matter what the standings say. Am I the only poster that remembers that post and gets this reference?
  2. It doesn’t exist anymore! Mon dieu!
  3. Plus them not trading Jansen in’24.
  4. Need to trade him at the deadline.
  5. Total dollars aren’t the same as AAV.
  6. Boston rained like 15 of 17 weekend this summer. Just dreadful.
  7. The trophy case isn’t getting bigger, but the owner’s bank account is. Yay!
  8. I thought Slasher was still the majority shareholder?
  9. It was 108 degrees in Arlington TX on July 18th. Is that baseball weather?
  10. Exactly. They just hand nobody to take the ball every fifth day. That September included the Andrew Miller starting pitcher experiment, Erik Bedard, Wakefield coasting to the finish line of his career, Kyle Weiland and an injured Lackey that needed TJS.
  11. He was really good the 3 years before they acquired him. I think they just didn't put too much on him because he was older. 2010-12: 143 Innings, 181 K, 11.42 k/9, 1.07 bb/9, 2.40 ERA, 2.50 xFIP
  12. Even the dropoff in 05 and 06 was to be expected. 2011 was a disappointment, but I don't think the ballclub needed to be imploded afterwards. Clearly they were able to use that core and win a WS two years later with a worse manager.
  13. Larry was good at his job and knew baseball. Sam is just the used car salesman guy. Useless. Everyone saw the value in Larry even if they wanted Theo to be left alone. Sam?
  14. UNNAMED Front Office Source!
  15. In 2018, the Sox didn't have the best record in the AL East from the beginning of the season on. There were 12 days when they weren't in 1st place, even as late as June 26th. On July 1, they were still tied with the Yanks for possession of 1st place.
  16. TX has smart baseball player (Princeton) turned GM. Sox are trying to replicate that.
  17. I believe this bloated FO needs an enema. Any person who isn't on board with the hiring needs to GTFO. There's just too much deadwood.
  18. 2003 really sucked, but I don't think it lingered the way other seasons did. Even the replays of the Boone walkoff didn't bother me after the fact. I was just really pissed off that night. 2011 was just frustrating the month of September to see it all fall apart. It was just witnessing the end of the Theo/Tito era. Just kind of sad in a different way.
  19. 745 for the guy who would have been the DH is not great though. That's worse than Valdez.
  20. All along, I said I liked the IDEA of Bloom, but Bloom in action was bad (bad offseason moves and lack of trade deadline moves left MLB team in the dust even though the farm got better). Maybe this version will fix the issues the previous CBO had? We'll see. I agree that there are problems in the FO that may not be fixable if the new CBO is unable to make substantial changes. We're already hearing some grumbling from people in the FO that Crag is too analytical. If that's the case, that employee has to go. Everyone should be rowing in the same direction and that should be what the CBO wants to do, not what Vlad Dracul wants to do or what Grimma Wormtongue wants to do.
  21. Stanley throwing the ball to the backstop.
  22. 10/25/86 for me.
  23. Abreu's 2022 Statcast looked like ass, so it's not surprising that he fell to earth.
  24. That could make a good gritty reboot.
  25. Wilbur was an architect who lived in San Fernando Valley. Rural America... Yeah, right...
