The Twitter account @RedSoxStats was clearly referring to Grissom, yes. I reiterated that with the LOVERS comment since anyone that has even been remotely accepting of the Sale trade has been painted as an unabashed lover of Vaughn Grissom for some reason.
@JoeyCopponi
Among qualified rookies, Wilyer Abreu ranks
1st in AVG (.313)
2nd in OBP (.391)
4th in OPS (.904)
1st in 2B (8)
6th in RBI (12)
5th in BB% (.120)
2nd in XBH (11)
Wilyer started off slow, but has really turned it around.
Some lean prospect years 2012-15:
Dubon
Beeks
Kopech
Chavis
Benintendi
Logan Allen
Guerra
DHern
Devers
Bazardo
Castillo
Moncada
Espinoza
Time will tell if DD's years provided better results.
@redsoxstats
After the 2017 season, Dustin Pedroia underwent a knee surgery that essentially marked the end of his career. Since then, Red Sox second basemen (35 players) rank 26th in wRC+, 26th in defense, and 27th in WAR at the position. Hopefully today starts a new era of stability there.
For all the LOVERS out there in TalkSox land.
@NESN
"It does sound like surgery could be a possibility. I don't want to say that that's going to be happening but, it doesn't sound like a short-term thing here"
@TheAthletic's @jcmccaffrey on Masataka Yoshida's injury
INJURY UPDATES
@ChrisCotillo
Cora said medical staff is still gathering information on Yoshida. No answers yet.
Pivetta rehab start tonight in Worcester. Bello will pitch Tuesday for Portland. Pivetta could rejoin rotation in ATL.
Romy Gonzalez rehab assignment starts tomorrow.
With all of the injuries this year, this may need its own thread.
I'll admit that he's lightyears beyond what we saw in 2022, even considering the one ball he completely embarrassed himself on this year. I have no worries about him in LF.
