  1. Wikelman's 2023: Greenville: Bad April - 15.58 ERA, 3.00 WHIP Good May - 2.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP Very Good June - 2.42 ERA, 0.96 WHIP July - one very bad start Promotion to Portland: July - 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP Aug - 4.15 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, largely due to one bad start at Binghamton 2.2 Inn, 4 ER Sept - 1.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP He had a really good season after turning the page on April. TalkSox mentioned on the recent podcast that he was struggling with sleep early on in '23 and they worked with him to fix the issue.
  2. To be a 3/4? Like 20% that one of them turns into that. Probably 50% that one can stick as a 5th starter or so. I think the risk has been there with those two that they are bullpen arms due to their control issues. If I had to wager a guess as the most likely outcome: Perales is a decent reliever, but not a shutdown late inning guy. Wikelman hangs onto a 5th starter/bulk relief role due to pitch mix.
  3. @tylermilliken_ According to @BGlobeSports, Nick Yorke is going to work on outfield drills during spring training to increase his versatility. Bounced back in 2023 with a .268/.360/.435/.785 slash line in 110 games. 13 HR, 25 doubles. 116 wRC+. Needed with Mayer/Story.
  4. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox re-signed Joely Rodriguez.
  5. The common bond with with these 4 is they are all Scott Boras guys. This is a repeat of the 2018 offseason. It's just Boras doing Boras things. He misread the market and is holding his guys out.
  6. His 30th birthday is in two weeks. Who cares about control of a middle reliever? Dime a dozen.
  7. Was probably trade bait even before.
  8. Perales right now is a two pitch pitcher. Wikelman suffers from inconsistency from start to start, but has multiple secondary pitches. Adding velo won't fix either problem or going to Driveline won't fix either.
  9. I hate when people get your hopes up on here.
  10. 3B backup is Reyes who only played there 13 innings last season?
  11. Some people can't keep up.
  12. Stats Masterson is objective. The other journalists, probably not so much.
  13. He's a platoon bat only like Enmanuel Valdez. Easy enough to ignore.
  14. Their career OPS splits aren't all that different. Refsnyder has played 1B, but not 3B. Dalbec > Refsnyder going forward. Refsnyder vintage '22 is better than Dalbec, but we aren't seeing that again just like we aren't seeing Dalbec vintage '20 again.
  15. It's showing that they are listening and engaged and hey here's a story!!! Wasn't that funny! Look over there!!!
  16. Looks fine to me. Sandlin could have helium depending on how he performs early, probably more so than Fitts.
  17. He wouldn't even put the effort into a project like that. He has Sam to tell everybody what he wants and then he f***s off to wherever he goes for a few months.
  18. It's just Henry now. He's running the show.
  19. It depends on the terms to me. I'd rather they lock up Casas.
  20. C - Wong, McGuire 1B - Casas, Dalbec 2B - Grissom, Reyes SS - Story 3B - Devers DH - Masa 5 OFers - Duran (L), Rafaela ®, Abreu (L), O'Neilllll ®, Refsnyder ® That's one extra player. Either Dalbec, Refsnyder or Rafaela goes. Now that the Sox have potentially Rafaela and O'Neillllll in the OF as RHB (along with Dalbec's career 855 vs LHP and corner OF usage in AAA), what is the need for Refsnyder? Refsnyder will turn 33 in May, can't hit RHP at all and doesn't play any defense. I don't see the point in keeping him around.
  21. Justin Turner's 18% k rate isn't walking through that door.
  22. Story had a 37% k rate the first month after coming back from the IL. No way was he going to get his numbers back to normal after that. Let's see what it looks like this year now that he's "healthy." He used to be a 25% k rate guy, but it bumped up to over 30% in BOS.
  23. If they were moving Refsnyder, it was because they were going to bring in another OF bat. Not sure they are going to do that now.
  24. I think there's some people that are upset that Eddie Romero didn't get the job and some people that are just bastards that like to start whisper campaigns with people like Pete Abraham and Sean McAdam. I don't know how pervasive it is, but keeping BOH and others around seems dumb? At least set up Crag to succeed.
  25. I'd go back and search Pete Abraham's tweets, but he blocked me. WTH?
