  1. Sox don't have many big power guys in the system. Good to get a guy that falls into your lap like that.
  2. You can't trade a drafted player until the offseason.
  3. The only guy in that rotation I'd be interest in is Eovaldi and he does come with injury risk.
  4. FWIW, Ian and Chris of SoxProspects said they'd grade Montgomery in the Bleis/Campbell tier and Montgomery just after Elmer Rodriguez.
  5. Sox drafted Braden Montgomery OF (switch hitter, power bat, big arm) and Payton Tole LHP (low 90's FB with lots of whiffage, average secondary stuff, big hoss type).
  6. Yorke is better than Valdez on D. Valdez is proven to be able to hit RHB at MLB level. We don't know what Yorke would hit in MLB. I think they had hoped for a Valdez/Yorke platoon at one point, but it took Yorke too long to progress.
  7. Verdugo is a perfect Yankee.
  8. So sad for Duggie!!!
  9. $20M would be year 3 ARB for mvp type player.
  10. Refsnyder RF, Duran LF, O’Neill DH, Devers 3B, Wong C, Gonzalez 1B, Westbrook 2B, Rafaela CF, Hamilton SS
  11. @alexspeier In this story on the Sox’ efforts to scout and draft for upside based on what they’re good at developing: A look at what the Sox *do* think they are good at developing, and what they see is less developable skills @redsoxstats Multiple people I've talked to about this article have had the same first thought: Cam Smith
  12. Not surprising. I will not point and laugh at those that wanted to keep Wingenter close to Bailey. He'll be fine down in WOO as well.
  13. 2015: Kolby Allard (14), Brady Aiken (17), Ashe Russell (21), Beau Burrows (22) 2016: Ian Anderson (3), Riley Pint (4), Braxton Garrett (7), Matt Manning (9), Jay Groome (12), Forest Whitley (17) 2017: Hunter Greene (2), Mackenzie Gore (3), Shane Baz (12), Trevor Rogers (13), DL Hall (21) 2018: Ryan Weathers (7), Carter Stewart (8), Grayson Rodriguez (11), Cole Winn (15), Matthew Liberatore (16), Mason Denaburg (27), JT Ginn (30) 2019: Quinn Priester (18), Daniel Espino (24), Blake Walston (26) 2020: Mick Abel (15), Nick Bitsko (24) 2021: Jackson Jobe (3), Frank Mozzicato (7), Andrew Painter (13), Chase Petty (26), Maddux Bruns (29) Seems like the most of the best talent here had injury issues.
  14. Went over the cap and then signed two FA's that faceplanted the next offseason. That's a whoopsiedoodle!
  15. Tut tut, let's just skip over 2020 for the sake of MY argument!!!
  16. I'm not arguing anything different. Henry has not spent recently. The only time they went over the cap since '19 was accidentally in '22. We have heard there's a firm budget. We don't know where that budget is. It could be lower than the CBT. It may not be. None of us on here knows. We do know that the guy who went over the cap got his ass fired.
  17. Well, when the Sox can get a Matt Duffy type to work out, I'll be on board. I'd rather go for some high octane (not simply velo) arms that have a decent ceiling.
  18. @SoxProspects Chansol Lee made his FCL Red Sox debut today working a scoreless first inning. The 18-year-old Korean righty was signed for a $300,000 bonus in July 2023.
  19. Henry's "problem with money" goes back before the previous two deadlines. You can't just ignore the elephant in the closet. At times, he has spent. At other times, he has not spent. We are in a spot where the spending is down and FSG is looking elsewhere. Can the Sox get the payroll up again? Maybe?
  20. HS pitching is very high risk, high reward. I just hope they get away from the "pitchability" archetype they were drafting in the Bloom years.
  21. Not sure when they updated the scouting report, but they often mention on the podcast that Mayer will most likely have to move to 3b sooner than later. I'm not rooting against him and am thankful that he's playing well this year. I was a little down on him last year, but was hopeful it was just due to the shoulder injury.
  22. They'll need to get one to replace Mayer in a few years anyway!
  23. The series before the deadline are: 3 KC 3 @ LAD 3 @ COL 3 NYY 3 SEA Need to go 9-6? That would have them at a 90 win pace at the deadline.
  24. Oh, it was totally a good decision to let Mookie walk. That definitely didn't put this team on a downward spiral or anything.
