  1. Well, it's FL! I've seen most every FL animal in our neighborhood/town except for bears, panthers and crocs. However, our friend saw a smaller croc one town over so they are expanding their range a little bit. My son takes care of two salt water tanks, one fresh water, a back yard pond, two terrariums and has an extensive bone collection from his fort excavations and various travels in the woods. So I can't really get away from it even when the doors are closed. No lizards allowed inside though.
  2. Sox go to DET and pitch against a team with a top 5 wRC+. Obv, the pitching gets rocked. It just shows that holding a bad offense down (KC) meant very little.
  3. Shouldn't we just be used to it? I thought it was a little weird that a lot of people assumed the Sox had a legitimate shot as AL East champs just because Cole went down. Hows does that get the Sox an extra 12 wins?
  4. Their best team on the field would include better pitching in the late innings IMO.
  5. If an iguana comes in my yard, it's on sight. The pool cage keeps everything but the really small lizards out anyway. When those guys get in, the cats get to them with the quickness. The only thing I worry about is the bufo/cane toad (rhinella marina).
  6. I wake up every morning knowing I have a superior baseball mind to all you knuckleheads. 🤓
  7. In the aftermath of the game, manager Álex Cora wouldn’t commit to Houck getting another start. “We’ll talk about it, of course,” Cora said, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive. “I’ve got to take a look at the video and we’ve got to see what we’re gonna do. Right now, it’s too fresh. It’s too quick. We have to take a look at it and see if it’s mechanical, usage, or where we’re at.”
  8. Vlad Jr went from being a -20 OAA 3b to a -13 1b (probably should be a DH). Miggy went from a -17 OAA 3b to 0 0AA 1b (for a little while). It's hard to really say what Raffy could do at 1b without him actually transitioning there!
  9. The Knicks lottery? They didn't have the third best odds that year. Each lottery team had the same odds. There were only 7 comically large envelopes, one for each team. 14% chance for each lottery team to win. That's how stupidly it was run until 1990. Easier to rig that way too.
  10. Savant, bref, Fangraphs... I use all three as needed for different reasons. I don't think there is one site that does everything perfectly.
  11. Also, while he's spending time working on his fielding at 1b, what happens to his hitting? Are we just going to assume he'll still hit at a high level at least in the short term?
  12. With that injury history, hard to put him even in the rotation for the whole year.
  13. We don't know if Devers is a better first baseman than Dave O'Brien TBH.
  14. Why didn't anyone want him AFTER the contract, notin? He was only 32! They could have had him for league minimum!
  15. Bello as a #2? 2.01 ERA 4.72 xFIP 5.53 xERA 5.57 FIP 5.24 k/9 4.84 bb/9 .234 BABIP I think there will be regression at some point unless he can turn it up here.
  16. They put Ref at first for a few days in ST last season and then also had him forever throw away his 1b mitt. Didn't use him at all last season even when they were running through Cooper and Dom Smith. Why? IDK. 227 career innings in MLB. 99 innings in AAA.
  17. And no other GM in MLB was a fan either as he never appeared in another MLB game. In fact, no team even wanted him on an MiLB deal as a 32 year old...
  18. That's like saying "yesterday was the past and has nothing to do with today." 🙄
  19. This isn't really true. History of this team is that Henry allows the GM/CBO to make decisions that he doesn't agree with. Case in point, they signed Carl Crawford to a deal that Henry didn't want Theo to sign. I think more often than not, Henry is an absentee owner and doesn't get in to the day to day. For a move regarding the franchise player, it would have to be run by the owner.
  20. That's 23% of PA's vs LHP vs 29% of PA's vs LHP for all of last season. Slightly lower than what we could expect to see as the season shakes out, but nothing extreme.
  21. It wouldn't be surprising. The only issue is that they don't really have a lot of positional depth. They will have promoted the big three as well as traded Teel/Montgomery and guys at last year's deadline. The AA/AAA roster has very few bright spots aside from the well known guys.
