  1. For the season: 146 wRC+ (career high) 398 OBP (career high) 16.2 bb% (career high) 415 xWOBA (career high) 95.6 exit velo (career high) 18.8 barrel% (career high) 61.6 hard hit% (career high) 40.2 LA sweet spot% (career high) 22.1 out of zone swing% (career low) He's been a better hitter as a DH than he has been as a 3b even including that first awful week. I think they should just keep him at DH and let him be a wreaking ball for the next how ever many seasons.
  2. Breslow and Cora are paid to manage players. To this point, they have not managed Devers or this situation well. That's on them, not Devers. Devers was told he was going to be the long term 3b. Then he's told to throw away his glove that he's going to be DH and won't play the field again. Now he's told he has to play 1b. That's how you treat Romy Gonzalez, not your franchise player Rafael Devers.
  3. It all blows over and Devers plays 1B at some point down the road. 50/50 he plays this season.
  4. If you want an article about Devers, you do it like this: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-red-sox-are-pulling-the-wrong-levers-with-rafael-devers/ Written by our own @Davy Andrews But it’s hard to fault him for being upset that the team went back on its word. And if you fault a player for telling the truth to the public, you should take at least as much issue with the organization that misled both him and the public. After 12 years, the team must have known Devers well enough to expect him to take this personally. And after the dustup in February, taking essentially the same tack – deny it publicly, then spring a complete reversal on him privately – borders on absurdity. Imagine being Devers. You’re the face of the franchise, you’re continually reassured that your position is safe, and then, late in spring training, you’re told that none of it was actually true, that you’ll no longer get to play in the field, ever again. Then, two months later, when it’s expedient, you’re told that also wasn’t true. 🔥
  5. If I'm making a move to get Roman on the team, I'm dealing Jarren. He still has a lot of value around the league. He's a top of the order bat. He has less control than the other OFers. It would be a huge shakeup, but is the right move for the product on the field. And the "sources say Rafaela isn't taking pitches" is straight from Sam Kennedy's playbook. I hate that.
  6. The problem was twofold: 1. Didn't adequately communicate with Raffy 2. Didn't trade either Masa and/or Casas in the offseason I don't feel sorry for the Red Sox right now and I support Devers. He has a right to be frustrated.
  7. Lawson probably didn't want to throw his player under the bus like that. Good on him. Not sure how that kind of stuff gets out there. Not sure the Sox are going to get Rafaela to have metrics better than where they are right now anyway. He has cut way down on his k's and increased his bb's. Just let him be who he is and he's on a bit of a roll right now anyway (767 OPS, 108 wRC+ since 4/22). Seems like they are priming the pump for a change in CF.
  8. Hard to put Duran and "hit" in the same sentence this season.
  9. Leading up to the signing, Cora kept saying that he wanted Bregman to be the 2b. They sign Bregman and he's brought in as a 3b. Cora clearly hadn't spoken to Devers about a position change. At the time of signing, Cora and Breslow need to get their heads together and come up with a communication plan for Devers. It seems like they never did. While I'm sure Breslow is a smart guy, he can be an absolute dumbass sometimes when it comes to communicating. Bloom was like that too.
  10. I like the bullpen better when they can play bad offenses like KC.
  11. After this weekend, his May OPS is back down to 1029. I think he had a nice series against NH, but I don't think we should get too worked up over a guy repeating AAA for the third year. His is still young, but is a potential Rule 5 guy this offseason. I think I'd rather see him at 1b in WOO than Grissom though.
  12. If he's a platoon 2b/3b with pop, I think it's fine. I think the k% is still too high for me, but it's nice to see him getting his bb% up this year as it was Rafaela low last year.
  13. Grisson his surviving as a bad ball hitter in AAA. He can't hit velo (anything above 94). He isn't athletic. He probably shouldn't be wasting a roster spot and could be dealt when they need Roman or Mayer.
  14. 1. It's just quoting a Bob Nightengale article from USA Today. That's 50% of the article. 2. Nightengale is NOT an insider, making the article clickbait. 3. This sentence tells me that the whole article is probably AI generated: It would be an absolute shock if the Red Sox ever even considered a request, but something like this does mean something when it comes from an insider of Nightengale's caliber and not just some person on social media making mock trades. 4. The article adds nothing. Just summarizes Bob Nightengale's thoughts and says "wow, this baseball INSIDER said this so we have to listen to him." Nightengale's piece isn't behind a paywall, so what's the point of this article aside from the clickbait? That's why this and all of the msn articles posted here are worthless.
  15. There is a very near zero percent chance that the Red Sox would make a move this season involving Devers, even with the drama of the season so far. I mean, that's just what the bad article says? I don't think anyone in their right minds would call Bob NIghtengale an insider either. 😎
  16. Why would you overpay for a 1B? They have such little value that nobody wanted Pete Alonso last offseason.
  17. Exactly. Maybe they could get Eric Wagaman or Ty France? I think the Sox would rather have Romy.
  18. Roman is not moving to 1b. Nobody is trading a valuable 1b this early in the season. The two teams that stink have Andrew Vaughn and Michael Toglia playing 1b. All the other teams believe they are still in it.
  19. KC is 27th in wRC+ and 26th in runs.
  20. I think it's an ok group of 4 pitchers. I'm not sure what Dobbins is just yet. Possibly just a backend guy. Fitts still needs to come back from injury before we can really count on him. Crochet is a certified #1. Bello can be a #3. Guys projected to appear in 2026 per Sox Prospects: Perales, Early, Mullins, Monegro (Early probably has the best chance to start) Guys projected to appear in 2027 per Sox Prospects: Tolle, Valera, Clarke, Paez (this group is far more interesting than the '26 group) The rotation in 2028 (not THAT far away) could be: Crochet Bello Valera Clarke Early
  21. He’s a good defender at 2b, but horrible at SS. He’s probably DFA worthy, but Sox could just option him. Call up Mayer to start at 2b when ready. Figure out where to put Campbell.
  22. Sox are 9-6 vs teams above .500. Third best run differential in AL. Expected W/L of 24/18.
