  1. He slugged under 400 last year and may only be a 2 win player going forward solely because of his glove. It's a move, but one I'm not super thrilled about. I'd rather they were able to sign Bregman for 3 years, but this is definitely the cheap way to go. Any trade should not include top 20 prospects or anyone that has real value since his contract is underwater at this point.
  2. Mayer has some adjustments to still work on and has 0 AAA PA's. I don't see a reason for him to be rushed at the moment. He'll get his opportunity soon enough.
  3. Which recent prospect was overhyped? Duran who just had a monster year? Casas who a lot of people on here don't want to trade and want to extend? Abreu was completely under the radar. Nobody cared about Crawford. Houck wasn't a big deal until he showed up in 2020. The only guy I can think of is Bello, but many people on here still believe he's a future #2!
  4. If STL wants to dump Arenado, just trade Sogard and Hayden Mullins for him while taking on the whole salary. Ben gets two "prospects" he acquired with the Sox and no longer has to deal with Arenado's salary. I wouldn't give anything more than that.
  5. They can't allow Henry near a microphone since the Winter Weekend debacle. Every time he is in public he's either shamed into signing someone or does something stupid.
  6. As Fay Vincent said "gambling always leads to corruption."
  7. The interpreter was basically the sweet, little old lady bookkeeper who had everything under control until she finally made a mistake and the company was out 1M.
  8. At least you didn't mention Zack Kelly.
  9. The clubhouse would rather see FA Matt Barnes walk through that door.
  10. That was entirely due to his nefarious interpreter. Shohei did nothing wrong! How would he have known that he had lost millions of dollars or even had a gambling problem?!?!
  11. Our 7th and 8th relievers aren't All Stars!
  12. Joe Kelly is still available. That'd be fun!
  13. Are you trying to tell me that relievers are volatile and can't be trusted year to year?
  14. He was "sharing a betting account" with a friend who was betting on baseball. He needs to be fired for being a dumbass. He should have just had his own gambling account and not been shady. Guilty by association is guilty when we are talking about betting on baseball. Bye bye!
  15. He could also be giving notes from other umps about other games to his "buddy." Lifetime ban as presented by FanDuel!
  16. OOPSY (God tier prognostication system) has Casas at 3 fWAR this season.
  17. Wow and if he is healthy this year, I bet his prime will be better than 1.7 fWAR and will force his next ZiPS numbers to go up.
  18. Cotsworth heads rise up!
  19. Adam Duvall had an 856 OPS against LHP last year. Just bring him back.
  20. If Casas falls in the woods, will any of us post about it?
  21. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2025/02/sam-kennedy-red-sox-have-taken-aggressive-approach-still-have-ability-to-add-to-roster.html Speaking outside Fenway Park as part of the team’s “Truck Day” festivities Monday, Kennedy contended that Boston has acted decisively and aggressively this winter while leaving the door open for further additions — even significant ones, “depending upon how things play out here over the next couple weeks.” “I do,” he said when asked if the club has acted with the urgency he spoke about in November. “The approach Bres (Craig Breslow) took was one of extreme aggression, extreme urgency. That doesn’t mean you’re going to end up signing every single free agent you engage with or complete trades that you embark on. It has been great to see the aggressive approach and the sense of urgency within baseball operations to improve. “We have the ability to add, if we can match up on deals that make sense, in terms of where we stand right now. I was asked the question earlier in the offseason about the ability to spend. We were engaged in the Juan Soto negotiations. It is something we have the ability to flexible (with), but it is so player and deal-specific. We’re going to do what’s right for the Red Sox for the short-term, trying to put a team out there that’s built to win in 2025, but also what makes sense for the long term. “It’s always a difficult line to walk, that balance. We get criticized for our messaging on that front and we understand that. It’s hard to navigate the short term and the long term. The only way to really follow up on that and have credibility and trust from our fans is to win baseball games. That’s what we need to do.” "THE ARISTOCRATS!!!" he added.
  22. The only quote presented so far is the "two pillars" quote which suggests he very much cares about pitching and defense. I'm sure he does look at pitching matchups, but those must be tertiary and somewhat flexible since he didn't say "three pillars."
  23. Wilson was a pretty good reliever from 2015-20. Not sure that pitcher is coming back again. He's also a one inning guy so he can't fill in for a Chase Anderson mop up role. Maybe a mild improvement from Joely Rodriguez? He had a decent stretch at one point last season and had a 3.30 FIP on 8/22 but completely fell apart.
