Ruth's five tools:
Pitching arm
Power
Hit for average
Large girth allowed him to down excessive amounts of Dewar's and ginger ale
Personality was a great match for newsreels
Recent? I haven't heard about him and the Mariners job in about 10 years.

If Mays had played in the 20's and 30's, he would have had 200 WAR. Ruth was a great player, but the competition at the time was low.
It's very hard to compare eras.
IMO:
Pre-Ruth (before 1920)
Pre-Integration (1920 - 1945)
Post-Integration (1946 - 1985)
Steroid Era (1987 - 2004)
Current Era (2005 - today)
Happy Birthday to Sox legends:
David Wells
Joe Harris
Pete Appleton
Wilcy Moore
Harry Taylor
Jake Thielman
Carlos Rivero
Paul Howard
Wayne Howsie
Joe Wood (the other one)
Vazquez is the Bench Coach. He's the next guy up if Cora is tossed out of the game. Why would the "Game Planning and Run Prevention Coach" get precedence?
He's a pitch to contact guy that goes deep in every count. He should be looking for weak contact out of the hitter early in every count so he could go late into the game. Why is he constantly nibbling? IDK! It certainly is annoying.
I'm not worried about a 3 per 9 bb rate. That's like 2 bb's a start. Bello's is ROUGH.
5.74 k/9
5.46 bb/9
1.05 k/bb 🤢 (2nd worst in MLB for a starter)
Old friend Quinn Priester is 4th worst in k/bb, FYI.
Oh, the list is A LOT longer than just Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer...
Duran is good, but I think the following guys have more trade value:
Crochet
Campbell
Abreu
Bregman
Maybe:
Devers
Fitts
Dobbins
Rafaela
Bello
