    The Sox need like 6 new startersthis year to be a playoff team. Mayer, Anthony, Campbell and others may get there someday but aren’t there yet. Just trade the expiring deals and stock up for future years.

    So he didn’t trade Devers and Beni? Wow! Casas was just drafted and wouldn’t be likely traded. The others weren’t considered very highly at the time. Chavis was the Sox #1 prospect in a bad system. Not sure he had much trade value. Is the argument that he didn’t completely clear out the system? I mean, yeah he didn’t trade 150 prospects…

    Any team near .500 is technically in the race considering how many teams get in now. Just doesn’t seem like a team that would really do damage in the playoffs if they got there. Why sell off future assets then?

    Anthony hasn’t demonstrated plus defense at the MLB level yet. Seems like a lot of lazy plays. Maybe LF only going forward?

    The A’s aren’t going to make that trade. I don’t see Cora sitting Story this season. If Campbell comes back, it’s likely in an ugly UTIL role as before as he doesn’t have a defensive home. They aren’t moving Rafaela off CF. I think I’m maybe just repeating what everyone else has said. Not trying to pile on though.

    fWAR -0.4 bWAR 0.3 At the ASB, that’s good enough to drop David Hamilton IMO regardless of his 7 DRS/1 OAA questions. Narvaez and Rafaela are standout defenders. Easy to see. Hamilton? No.

    I also don’t find defensive metrics infallible. Whenever Imm watching Hamilton, he looks mediocre out there. I’ve seen enough botched plays and shaky defense that he doesn’t look like a plus defender to me.

    When the relievers pitch well, it’s on the relievers. When the relievers pitch poorly, it’s bad bullpen management from Cora. Duh.

    I’d dump, Toro, Romy and Ref on anyone who needed them at the deadline. They are not long for this team. A RHB that can only hit LHP isn’t hard to find. Toro (LHB) just isn’t that good TBH and I’d take a low level prospect for him. All three are older too.

    Why did he avoid asking Devers about DH while both of them were in Fort Myers prior to ST starting? Bregman had already been signed at that point. Both of them were together at JetBlue.

    That's different than straight up saying "we're going to win more games and be buyers at the deadline." I'd rather just the mealy mouthed word salad.
