  1. He was 235 last season. Was it a problem last spring?
  2. Trayce Thompson, who led of for BOS today, had a 43%/13% in 23.
  3. Manfred is already threatening a lockout in 2027, so I don’t think we’re getting a strike before then.
  4. The title of his column was "Wild Devers Trade Ideas" and included deals for Vlad Jr, Trout, Castellanos, Castillo, Muncy and others. It's called throwing crap at the wall to get people to look at ads.
  5. I have no idea what he is or isn't thinking, so I'll just be happy he's here for this year and see what happens later on. This has the makings of a very one and done year with this team considering the status of impactful guys like Gio, Bregman, Buehler, Chapman, Hendriks, Story (if only).
  6. Maybe you sit him against a really great lefty, but I wouldn't put him in a strict platoon. If he's up, he's close to a full timer to me. I'd rather he start vs LHP than Abreu.
  7. If you move Devers off 3b, but Bregman leaves this offseason, what's the plan? Campbell? Grissom? Mayer? FA?
  8. So that he's one and done? Or just enough juice that he's better, but not so much that he leaves in a few years. Or so much juice that they win a WS and who cares if he leaves?
  9. When he has tried to alter it in the past, the results have been worse. He doesn't know how to be patient. He has zero pitch recognition and will take pitches right down the middle of the plate just to take a pitch. He did it in MiLB, he did it when I saw him in Spring Training last year (take two down the middle and k on a slider away). He's a guy who just needs to be aggressive and rely on his athleticism for better or worse.
  10. He's a gold glove caliber platoon OFer on a cheap contract. Sign me up.
  11. A lot of the players have said that even during and after the 3b talk that they vibes are good. Threatening your most expensive player with the Disqualified List really tanks all those vibes. It's always nice to reminded that I'm more level headed than most sports journalists even though some of my posts are pretty out there. Put Cotillo, McAdam or any number of beat writers in as CBO and the Red Sox become what we are seeing in the South Side of Chicago.
  12. He went from out of baseball to independent league league to being rushed through the Sox system into MLB appearances in 2024. If he never pitches again, it's still quite a success for him. As a LHP who throws hard, he might stick around a while and get another shot somewhere. I don't know if it'll be here.
  13. Wow, I don't have to put up with pollys lke you putting words in my mouth! 😡 This place is unbelievable sometimes.
  14. Robot umps have come.
  15. Penrod has a sore elbow and will get an MRI per Cora.
  16. Better defense leads to championships then? Is that the theory?
  17. And I'll say it again, if they sign Anthony and Campbell to extensions prior to Opening Day, those PPI incentives disappear. At that point, there is less of a reason to put them on the Opening Day roster. You can wait 2 weeks and make sure they are still raking in AAA before calling them up.
  18. Why don't they do the doubleheader NU/BC anymore? They haven't played BC since 2018. Is that the new curse?
  19. Another NRI to put on the pile.
