  1. He's going to hang around the rankings like Allan Castro (still only 22???).
  2. I don't even like 111 Huntington in my skyline so I have nothing to contribute here.
  3. 1. That's NOT the definition of nepotism. 2. Abreu's first visit to MLB: 12 G CF, 12 G LF, 3 RF after being mainly a RFer in WOO 3. Duran gets a TON of respect from Cora, maybe more than any other player in the clubhouse and even said that every kid should watch Duran and play baseball the way he does 4. I don't think Cora had any idea who David Hamilton (598 OPS Freshman) was in 2017 5. Abreu had an 881 OPS while batting 2nd in '24, much better than a 9th hitter
  4. Ceddanne has always been a 40%+ GB guy. PCA seemed to make some adjustments to reduce his GB rate, but we haven't seen much out of Rafaela to show that he's coachable TBH. He also doesn't have the pull stroke that PCA has. While some metrics make it appear that they are similar, they really aren't the same offensive profile. I've seen this mentioned a few times elsewhere, but I don't get it. PCA 29.1% Pull Air (10th in MLB) Rafaela 12.3% Pull Air (211th in MLB out of 254) I just don't see Ceddanne having any chance of breaking out like PCA. It's also not entirely fair to put that on him. If he got to 750 OPS, we should all be doing cartwheels.
  5. If you want to see how a replacement level team would play, just look at the '24 ChiSox and the '25 Rockies. They won't go 0-162.
  6. Sox had 3 players of the month for May for their respective leagues!
  7. Moving Duran would get someone else off the roster.
  8. 1. Roman Anthony 7. Marcelo Mayer 65. Franklin Arias 88. Payton Tolle 90. Brandon Clarke 99. Jhostynxon Garcia Aside from his very first start, Tolle has had a STRONG season. He'll be up in AA for sure.
  9. They tend to differ when it comes to the defensive calculation of WAR and it can get screwy with some players (Wong in '23 bWAR vs fWAR).
  10. On Grandal: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/yasmani-grandal-steps-away-from-red-sox.html Yasmani Grandal informed the Red Sox’s Triple-A team that he is stepping away from his minor league deal. Grandal did not officially announce his retirement, but it appears he’s leaning that way. “At the moment, it looks like he’s probably going to walk away and potentially hang them up,” Triple-A manager Chad Tracy told MassLive’s Katie Morrison-O’Day on Tuesday. “We talked (Monday), and I knew he was going to pack up and go…his response was ‘it’s time to be dad.’” The Sox technically placed him on the restricted list, according to the MLB.com transaction log. Francys Romero confirms that Grandal does not intend to return to the Boston organization.
  11. He's posted on the lineup card everyday. The first time I heard it was when they did the All Star announcement video last season and Cora spoke about Duran and how every kid should play like Duran because he plays hard and posts. I think it was mentioned in the Netflix doc too. Outside of Alex Cora, I've never heard it before.
  12. I used to get on Casas for being too passive at the plate and watching too many called strikes go by. By the numbers, Campbell is even worse than Casas at zone swing %, called strike % and has a similar strikeout looking %.
  13. Cora probably looks at it as "what are you going to give me from June - Sept" rather than "what have you already done for me?" I think that's why he'd lean on Duran. He also likes that Duran POSTS every day. He wants Duran at the top of every lineup card for a reason. If he was the CBO, he would most certainly trade Rafaela to make room. He sees him as expendable and potentially uncoachable.
  14. A lot of the pitches he gets at the bottom of the zone are GB. Biggest struggle is with all pitches out of the zone and the bottom corners of the plate if you look at SLG, xSLG, wOBA, xISO, etc. He's made good contact on pitches in the top of the zone per Batter Run Value.
  15. He's not better than Mayer. He may not even be better than '25 Story.
  16. At times, he's been aggressive. I think the Sox main problem is "too many cooks." I think we saw that with the Bregman situation this offseason and Cora/Kennedy saying one thing to the media and Breslow believing something else internally. The longer stuff like this goes on, the more I see why any respectable CBO wouldn't take this job. No matter how good you are, if you don't do the move that Cora/Kennedy want, it's going to be painted as you being a schmuck in the media.
  17. Campbell already has history playing OF in MiLB and this year's ST too! Anthony hasn't played IF since little league. I think there's a bit of a difference. Campbell has been primed for multi-position usage since he came to the organization. Don't be upset if Cora continues to use him that way.
