They were an 82 win team last year and he probably added 6 wins this year, a portion of which just comes from promoting Roman Anthony. His communication skills are what held this team back at the trade deadline.
I'd rather have Hamilton down the stretch coming off the bench than Toro now that Lowe is the primary 1b. Hamilton can at least play a decent 2b and run very fast. Toro was below average across the board.
He'd have value if his glove was playable in the field. He just doesn't have any range as he's slow, unathletic and doesn't have an arm either. For a 5'10" guy, he needs to tighten that up.
Rafaela - CF always
Anthony - LF/RF, seems very good either way
Duran - glove has taken a step back and is a LF/DH, backup CF in emergency situations only
Abreu - RF
Ben the Boob actually created a functional team in 2013:
Napoli 3.7 bWAR
Drew 2.7 bWAR
Gomes 1.6 bWAR
Victorino 6.0 bWAR
Carp 1.5 bWAR
Ross 0.7 bWAR
Koji 3.5 bWAR
Peavy 0.6 bWAR (partial year)
Arraez has been a 1.7 fWAR guy the last two full seasons combined. I'd rather throw Masa or Casas at 1b instead if that's all you're getting out of him.
Trying to get Ryan in July makes no sense. Can he get him this offseason? Sure.
Could Breslow (or a more experienced version) have acquired a 1b or 2b to help with the positional rotation? Definitely. Another RP? Yes.
