  1. The ground balls won't change anytime soon, FYI. When he hits it in the air, it's just going to go very, very far.
  2. All offseason I said Marcelo needed time in AAA to work on hitting vs LHP and offspeed stuff. Marcelo: AAA 638 OPS vs LHP, MLB 416 OPS vs LHP Offspeed per Statcast: 125 BA, 139 XBA, 292 SLG, 312 XSLG, 214 WOBA, 228 XWOBA He was in fact not ready in March for the bigs.
  3. Someone would have to Nancy Kerrigan Nick Kurtz for that to happen.
  4. Lowe's 89 ERA+ is the same as Dustin May's this year. However, he had a 4.26 FIP which when factoring in the era is so much better than how May has pitched this season. That FIP was in line with previous and subsequent years, so he probably was just unlucky in '04. Bonus points for throwing 180 innings.
  5. I'd rank them in order: ERod/Eovaldi Lowe/Arroyo Peavy/Doubront Schilling/Lester May/Buehler a distant 6th With how far runs have dropped off recently, I think Buehler is by far the worst pitcher listed and May probably second worst.
  6. Disagree. Rafaela is a transcendent defender. Duran has been just fine this year.
  7. Sure, but this is a team that wants to do damage in the playoffs and is trying to go for it, right? They were supposed to be buyers? It's not supposed to be like "most rotations" IMO.
  8. Thank Breslow that an extension was signed. Hope he maxes out that deal and earns a ton of incentives.
  9. His power outage is probably due to the right quad injury. He's still noticeably slower and any decrease in lower body strength would take away from his pull air potential. He may be intentionally adjusting his approach because of his quad.
  10. I think they wanted Ryan AND May. I believe May was in the works ahead of the Ryan deal and was going to get done anyway. It wasn't a "panic move" IMO. I'm glad he had a great start last night. The dude has shown a lot of promise in the past. I'm just not confident that the Sox are able to rely on him down the stretch. I'm just seeing a guy similar to Buehler where there will be a great game or two followed by a blowout or two. Having two of those guys in the rotation isn't ideal to me.
  11. Roman has never been a pull air guy. This goes back to his entire time in the organization. Unless they are going to completely change his approach, you have to accept his higher than average ground ball rate.
  12. Hard to say this on a night Anthony gets 4 walks.
  13. Mayer was in fact not ready on day one. Campbell wasn't ready either. Anthony certainly was and had a higher AAA OPS in '24 and twice the PA's than Campbell. The only reason Anthony wasn't called up was "too many OFers."
  14. Sure, in 2026 he can start that journey again.
  15. Campbell can show what he’s got in 2026.
  16. I was always told “it’s always the quiet ones.” What’s that mean?
  17. Wow, sounds like a little much! That’s nothing like Banana Ball!!!!!!
  18. They could get swept this series and it doesn't affect my outlook on this team. They have a cakewalk of a schedule from 8/15 - 8/31. Only 3 difficult series left to go: CLE, TOR, DET.
  19. Competent? Some other teams still would have him as their CFer.
  20. I'm not one for well thought out puns. I think they may need to do a Criswellness check and see if he still Fitts on this roster.
  21. Like allowing fans to catch foul balls for outs or calling in middle aged retired guys to strike out or hit weakly to 2b.
  22. There are 11 Banana Ball rules and only two that I'd think about: 2 hour time limit/no new inning after 1:50 and batters can't step out of batter's box (auto strike).
