  1. Murphy has relief experience. Early is a pure starter. Not sure it makes sense to just add Early as a reliever if he hasn't tried out relieving in MiLB.
  2. Sure, but the fanbase wouldn't have been harmed by seeing Hicks in the uniform.
  3. Why do they yank Sogard, Hamilton, Eaton and others from AAA to BOS and back? Because they ultimately don't believe they have longterm value for the team. The see these guys as fungible assets that they can plug in as needed. They've left Campbell in AAA because they care about his progress and don't want to mess it up again by promoting him before he's ready. They see longterm value in Campbell and are going to protect that asset. Campbell looked awful in ST and probably didn't deserve the Opening Day spot. They trusted him and let him run with it anyway. Ultimately, it didn't work out. Campbell has not made any adjustments this season. He is still struggling. He's whiffing at pitches in the zone and not making hard contact or pulling the ball. His defense is also not getting any better. Anthony is the far superior prospect no matter what award Campbell won last season. Campbell had his shot this season and saw his numbers plummet. Anthony had his shot this season and had his numbers climb throughout the year. When pitchers made adjustments to Anthony, he kept hitting. You can't say the same for Campbell. The fanbase isn't down on Campbell. They are being patient with Campbell and are honest about his true ceiling. He should be a fulltime player at some point, but maybe it just shouldn't be this year. That's how it works with prospects sometimes.
  4. Sox could have just eaten some salary from Devers's contract instead of taking the roster space.
  5. What’s the Sox record vs LAA?
  6. I think either WAR has a value, but it's just relative. You can't just say "Warren is better because his fWAR is higher." Per Statcast, Bello has a pitching run value that's well above average and Warren's is well below average. Warren gets barrelled more often and induces less groundballs. Seems like Bello is a better bet going forward. fWAR has always had some "interesting" outliers (Kluber's 3.1 fWAR in '22, for example).
  7. If only we got a Hicks GS in TOR this year! 🤩 https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR201206030.shtml
  8. Sure, but there are two WAR calculations that come up with completely different amounts. There is no one true WAR and no one true measurement that determines how that whole picture should be valued.
  9. It's why people need to look at the whole picture, not just the WAR calc for a good argument.
  10. Warren k's people and his ERA is worse than his xFIP. Bello doesn't k people and his ERA is a lot better than his xFIP. Warren and Bello are roughly equal in fWAR, but Bello is almost triple in bWAR.
  11. Has the markup always been that high?
  12. Hey, I met a former mod at Fenway once! He was real to me damnit!
  13. That was fixed temporarily.
  14. Hicks has also been noted as being the first guy to leave the clubhouse after a game. Get this guy out of here. There's at least a glimmer of hope with Masa and players like him.
  15. They thought they could fix him and turn him into a high leverage guy like they did with Chapman. Seems like it didn't work! Should have just handed SF 45M for 3 years to NOT take on Hicks. At least then they could call up a AAA guy that could pitch at a mediocre level rather than an atrocious level.
  16. I have a Myx bike at home. It's fine. They've removed a bunch of the older videos that I liked which is kind of annoying.
  17. If you don't know where it's going, a lot of times it will either be well out of the zone or put right on a tee for a hitter.
  18. Since '21: 101 wins 104 wins 89 wins and WC appearance .450 win % If anything, the Braves are an example of pitching volatility for better and worse.
  19. We are not 100% certain how some of our posters behave in public!
  20. Sox still have an extremely great chance to get into the playoffs. On this date in 2011, the Sox were 8 games up on the Rays. They went 6-17 the rest of the way. Sox are currently 6 games up on the Rangers. They really have to just play awful baseball for the rest of the way to be golfing in September.
