  1. If the Red Sox aren't equipped to deal with the minimal amount of complaints that came from Raffy, this organization is screwed. Wait until they get a really disgruntled player. Raffy had like 2 press conferences and then shut his mouth. You can't get a CBO to interview here. Why would anyone ever want to play here? Joke organization.
  2. No. They've been working on this trade for a few weeks apparently.
  3. They won't be able to replace his production this year. They'll be able to move some deck chairs around and get under the CBT. Maybe this works towards them having better pitching in the future? Maybe? Everything we've heard about since 2020 is them working towards the future. This is the 6th year of the rebuild. When do they just go for it with the team they have?
  4. Maybe through in a few complex league guys too?
  5. He doesn't have any secondary pitches. That #2 ceiling has sailed.
  6. Two players that went to making the team better. The Red Sox will be worse off for this deal. Hicks is a relief profile going forward. The other 3 may not have MLB impact in the future.
  7. Rubby was Baby Pedro! https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1488338-2013-boston-red-sox-could-rubby-de-la-rosa-be-the-next-pedro-martinez There were so many stories that offseason about him getting his changeup from Pedro.
  8. Do you think trades get done in 5 minutes the way they do in the movies?
  9. JH, Bailey, Cora and Raffy all played their parts in this mess. I think on here Raffy got more blame than I've seen elsewhere. I think it's because some of our posters age a bit on the mature side.
  10. It depends on what the expectations are, right? If he was on a minimal contract for 8 years, the Sox are getting a crazy return. I just think the Sox could have received more if they waited. How much? I don't know because I don't work in baseball operations. We all know that prices get higher at the deadline. They just wanted him gone sooner than later and had a trade that was good enough. The trade was most likely never going to be enough to make me happy for sure.
  11. Numb may be how Gio's arm feels after the cross country flight. Look forward to see what this lineup card looks like.
  12. 2019 Fire DD, Hire Bloom 2020 Trade Mookie 2022 Xander leaves, Eovaldi leaves 2023 Extend Raffy, Fire Bloom, Hire Breslow, Trade Sale 2025 Trade for Crochet, Extend Crochet, Trade Raffy 2026 Fire Bailey 2027 Fire Breslow, Hire Cora, Trade Crochet (he didn't like the 3rd version of the City Connects)
  13. They aren't going to spend that this year. They spent that on one of the best hitters in MLB. With their history, that money is not going to be wisely spent. You know this. The cost to replace his production? 30M or more!
  14. It's frustrating because I think you need to be able to do both: understand the analytics and see that the players are actual human beings that don't function as 0's and 1's in a program or on a spreadsheet. Cold weather impacts performance. Bad managers impact performance. Not being happy where you live impacts your performance.
  15. Maybe there's value? I can't be happy about the phrasing "we need to give it a few years to see how these guys pan out" to feel like it's not going to be very good. If one of these guys was a LEGIT prospect, we'd be hearing that. We've been absolutely sold on some mediocre guys that have come this way. Rubby de la Rosa! Allen Webster! Connor Seabold! Jeter Downs!
  16. I don't know how robust would be, but if they wanted the "best" offer they'd wait it out. They were just interested in getting it done quickly.
  17. It's easy to be mad at Devers for "not hustling" or "not playing 1b" because those are things that you see on the field. I think the FO really needs to be held to task for their part.
  18. What would they trade? They young pitching they want to hoard? Jhostynxon? Romero? Aside from that, all their talent is way down in the lower minors.
