    🫣 It's just frustrating. You want to be invested in the team and they do this nonsense right when fans start to get excited again. They've 100% decided to punt this year. There's just no way they can get into the playoffs now. Without Raffy, the top of the order looks even more ST than before. I don't expect Toro/Romy to produce all year. I don't even expect Narvaez to hit as well as he has. All the catching will wear on him. Masa needs to get on a hot streak. And Breggie can't cool down. Anthony/Mayer/Campbell aren't going to be 850 OPS guys this season. They'll be streaky, but you can't count on them they way you will be able to in future years. Story? Rollercoaster.

    What was reported was that he "considered asking for a trade in ST." He didn't ask for one. I don't see any reputable Red Sox reporters saying he asked for a trade.

    We know how JH works. They dumped the whole contract. They got NOTHING back. They did it right after a sweep of the Yankees when they got above .500. They did it right before they'll have to face Devers in SF! They don't give a crap what the fans think, just how much JH's wallet weighs. It's the same story over and over.

    They most certainly wanted to get out from under the contract. Once he was at DH, they wanted cost savings. When JH went to have that summit, it was all over for everyone involved. They were on a trajectory of Devers leaving. JH is never around the team anymore. He was on the field today. He wanted the deal done. I've said all along just watch the last little bit of Moneyball. That's where JH still is. His valuation of players is far behind where the market is. Breslow just had no interest in doing his job and communicating to his players this offseason. He lied to Devers and told him that there was nothing to worry about with Bregman. Then they signed Bregman and still didn't talk to Devers about what the plans were. Crazy!!! Devers gets to ST and nobody has spoken with him about what the plans are. They finally talk to Devers (after the media gets to him LOLOLOL) and he moves to DH telling him to not worry about playing the field this year. Surprise surprise, they need to backtrack on that. Why should Devers all of a sudden run to 1B to play a position he's never played? They asked him to be DH. He didn't have a relationship with Breslow because Breslow never initiated. This issue won't be just a Raffy thing with Breslow. It'll happen with other vets and the young guys and FA that they want to sign. When Breslow can't communicate, it's going to negatively impact the Boston Red Sox.

    I think Breggie was a good get, but only because it was short term. He's a guy that may not age well and has had injury issues. Well, the injury issues cropped up again this year. The 6-7 year deal would have been too much for him IMO.

    Oh no! Maybe Devers told him "my groin is bothering me" and Cora was like "oh yeah." You're already mad at Devers for other stuff, just needed something else to pile on. I get it.

    They were talking to the Giants for weeks apparently. The other teams (Jays, Padres, Braves) weren't as interested). The "hustle" play was 7 days ago.

    The team is going in reverse, but they'll keep trotting out the cost savings to Henry and how they'll be in on guys in the future with PAYROLL FLEXIBLITY (we know how great they've been in the FA market in recent years) and wait for cheap prospects to do the heavy lifting. It's a big market ballclub trying to thread the needle that the Cincinnati Reds have to thread. Why? It makes no sense. Good luck, but this team isn't going to win another WS for a looooong time. It won't be with Anthony, Mayer or any of these guys. Not because they aren't good enough, but because JH's head is so far up his backside that they won't build the right foundation of a winning team.

    Bloom told Devers that he was going to be a 3b for years to come. Not sure what that has to do with Matt Olson as his contract is 168M and Raffy's was 313M?

    Yeah, he got mixed messaging. THE STAR PLAYER OF THE TEAM WAS GIVEN MIXED MESSAGING. Fire Breslow for being inept. They've punted on the season, but some posters are happy about it because a player who didn't smile enough was traded.
