He's never thrown more than 120 IP in a year before. Having him throw 100 pitches in March is a recipe for disaster for Early if you want him pitching down the stretch.
On Weissert, if you have Suarez down 0-2, why put a ball on a tee for him? Weissert has a sweeper and Suarez loves to k. Just throw something out of the zone and get him to chase!
To me, WAR isn’t the end all be all. Cal had a monster season and played great defense at a hard position. Judge had a monster offensive season but is mediocre defensively. Due to the defense, I give my vote to Cal.
The one guy it made sense for was Alex Verdugo. He'd show up late for games. Was a top prospect and seen as a guy that could potentially get an extension. He squandered whatever potential he had and is now a MiLB contract guy.
