  1. The next CBO search is going to be brutal for the Sox. They couldn't get anyone in the door last time. Now they are seen league wide as a complete mess. f you like scouting, all those guys are gone. There's no year to year commitment to spending or competing. Your job will possibly not last the full contract you sign. You're surrounded by legions of EVP's that survive by winning favor with ownership. Who would take that job? I
  2. Just because a guy was a great player doesn't mean they'd be a great coach or GM. I think Pedroia is happy coaching his son's little league team. Ortiz is sort of around the team as part of the ownership group. Pedro is brought out in Spring Training the same way Luis Tiant was every season. I think Breslow is happy leaning on Driveline and internal metrics to move the team forward rather than having former players mentor the current players. Why not both? Even if you don't have guys like Ortiz and Pedro physically coach the players or teach them mechanics, you can at least have them talk to the younger guys about getting through a long season and dealing with adversity. Maybe the Red Sox don't see any value in it?
  3. I wasn't super high on him to begin with. I don't think he's doing anything to earn an extension that's for sure. Right now, he's a lame duck CBO. He's never had a good trade deadline. He doesn't communicate well. I can excuse the mixed bag trade/FA moves since that's every CBO. At least the pitching dev seems headed in the right direction. The best prospects seem to be also trending up. He's basically Chaim if Chaim spent more time churning the top of the MLB roster.
  4. Huh, that doesn't make any sense. Last year, the Sox coaches were getting called out for being out of position and stealing signs. It has more to do with that them not paying attention to the details. It's more excuse making than smearing.
  5. Clarke hasn't given up a run all season!
  6. It got revisited because Alex Cora posted a bunch of photos of him going out with the boys on IG. Then people online started talking about it and found the stuff in Drellich's book. Articles were written a few days later. Media need an easy story and it was one. We've seen them really throw a lot of people under the bus in the past, but it seems Breslow didn't really do that this time. He's even downplayed some of the speculation about Fatse getting fired because of KC's performance. Breslow keeps a lot of things close to the chest and doesn't seem to leak much. If anything is getting leaked, my guess it's from Sam and friends rather than the CBO side of things. The only story we heard was that they were upset with how well DHam played and that Breslow had wanted to clean house when he first got there or whatever. Uh, ok? In terms of mudslinging, that doesn't hold a candle to what they have done in the past.
  7. That story came from Evan Drellich's book from the HOU cheating scandal. It isn't new info at all. The Sox had nothing to do with it.
  8. Before the FO can do a smear campaign? The Globe had the smear campaign going the following morning after Tito was gone. I think they've learned from their lesson and aren't really going whole hog on that stuff anymore. We're hearing a lot more sour grapes from the former coaches and others fired by Breslow than anything else.
  9. He also doesn't seem able to make a team play above their capabilities. You're never all that surprised by how a Cora team is playing unless it's by how much they are underperforming.
  10. "You know, I don't really know." That's the right answer for me. I don't care if my ballplayers talk in circles. They don't need to be great orators.
  11. Henry is a 🧛‍♂️ and needs to be kept as far away from the players as possible. The calming effect is just a charm spell.
  12. They liked him and believed he had value. It apparently didn't work out?
  13. Cora is a good coach, but needs strong veterans on the team. Once it went into a rebuild, they needed someone else running the show. He just isn't able to effectively manage young guys. The Sox have been at the bottom of the standings in errors no matter who they put on the field. The Sox never looked completely prepared. For example, the Sox are dead last in ABS challenges and seemingly are scared to challenge or have no idea when or why to challenge.
  14. The problem with Cespedes is that he doesn't have a defensive home. He's a short DH. There's really not much projection. If he's not tearing up the low minors like the Martian was, there's not enough meat on the bone to really care about. Castro is 22 and in AAA. He's started slow after every jump. Bleis is a different story.
  15. They intentionally seclude him away from the public and the press so that he doesn't "put his foot in his mouth" (aka say what he really thinks). I think he cares. I think his opinions go against Sox PR spin, so they need to keep him away.
  16. It's a pretty short season for a lot of fans that will just be tuning out before Memorial Day.
  17. Just because you like Tek the player doesn't mean he's a good coach.
  18. The pitching was much better without Devers. That was the real difference maker. The overall wRC+ was about the same with or without Devers. Roman basically replaced his production. This year, Roman has taken a step backwards.
  19. 7/1/25 - EOY 14th wRC+ 2nd BABIP 7th SB 8th Runs 23rd K%
