Incessant whistles are why I can't watch the NBA anymore. Some NFL games are absolutely brutal to watch with the flags thrown. Unfortunately, the MLB umps are almost as bad in terms of making it about themselves.

He would not have performed any better with a robot, that is true. However, my personal enjoyment would increase immeasurably if I no longer had to worry about what the strike zone would look like from game to game. There are a few egregious calls every game that really take me out of the moment.

The present pitching staff is not good enough to win in October. Price seems to have trouble in cold weather. Wright is not tested in a playoff setting. ERod may not be healthy all year. Porcello seems to be the only stable guy in the rotation at the moment.

Letting him go was ridiculously stupid. They treated the early 90's Sox teams like garbage.

And people are already worried about being able to afford Xander, Mookie and JBJ. Clearing off some Pedroia salary would help in that regard.

Kapler was a monster against LHP. I don't have a problem with that. I would have moved Nixon to DH against LHP (unless you did a FA acquisition for Ellis Burks).

It IS an impossible task. The umps are in a tough situation. To ease their problems, let's allow the home plate ump to call hit batters, check swings and plays at the plate. A robot can call the balls and strikes.

Holt would be a fine replacement for now. They would need to also find a corner OF to platoon with Young, but that's much easier than finding a #2. You'd want to find a guy like Pomeranz. If the Pads offered Pomeranz, Jon Jay and Brad Hand, I'd have to think about it.

Nixon was great in MVP 2004. I think they added extra grit to his stats.

Ok? Does that mean I can't express opinion? Pedroia could wave his no trade clause if he wanted to. Maybe he'd prefer living closer to where he grew up?

If he doesn't get dinged up this season, I won't complain. I watch the games and remember that he typically gets hand and foot injuries. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll be healthy all year. My point for trading Pedroia is as follows: the Sox need pitching, Pedroia would provide good value in a trade, the Sox have a ton of high upside IF guys on the farm, Pedroia typically gets injured and is only getting older and he's probably the most overrated player the Sox have ever had. If you don't agree with that assessment, fine. However, don't expect to change my mind on the matter. If we could get a #2 for Pedroia, I would do that deal in a second. Do I think Pedroia is a problem on this team? No. Do I think he's one of the top 10 2b's in the game? Yes. Will the Sox realistically trade Pedroia? f*** no. Am I happy that he seems to be less pull happy this year? Of course. Is his defense slipping a little? Definitely. Am I crazy for putting "trade Pedroia" in my sig. Probably.
