  1. @jonheyman yanks higherups not very interested in helping red sox. beltran, boston talk is fun. but as of now, major long shot.
  2. Light had the deer in the headlights look we saw from Webster. Not a loss, imo.
  3. I hope Abad doesn't wind up being Aterrible.
  4. Like Mark Melancon?
  5. To me, I'd let the Sox pick either Benintendi or Devers, but not both.

  7. For Kimmi: The Red Sox and White Sox had some late-night talks pertaining to Sale, reports USA Today’s Bob Nightengale (on Twitter). Nightengale adds that if Sale is moved — and that is a huge “if,” it should be noted — the Red Sox and the Dodgers are likely destinations. Jon Paul Morosi said in appearance on the MLB Network this morning that he considers the Red Sox to be the likeliest destination for Sale, though a trade is very far from a sure thing. FanRag’s Jon Heyman tweets that the Red Sox have indeed talked to the White Sox on Sale recently, but Chicago is seeking “at least” four young players from Boston, including “three of [their] best.” Heyman wrote this morning that the Red Sox, Rangers and Dodgers are seen as three of the most likely landing spots in the event of a trade due to the strong farm systems and bulk of MLB-ready talent that each has to offer. However, he also tweeted earlier that the Rangers and White Sox haven’t spoken about Sale recently. Notably, the Rangers have been focused on other trade options, including Jonathan Lucroy.
  8. Clutch doesn't mean you get every hit. It's just the same as veteran leadership doesn't mean a veteran's presence helps every prospect.
  9. Can't trade Groome until the offseason. I think Benintendi, Devers and Groome would be too much anyway. If Sale was a happy camper and loved the ChiSox, the price would be higher. I think Dombrowski could get a far better deal done than that.
  10. To get one of the best pitchers in the game? Sure, if you are 100% confident that he doesn't have ANY injury concerns. I believe some people are worried about his mechanics, but that's not my forte.
  11. I'm glad they are at least trying to kick the tires and stay on the phone with the ChiSox. Would have been helpful if they did the same with Josh Donaldson two years ago...
  12. It's the second most wonderful time of the year... If there were MLB inflatables, house lights and decorations, I'd have some sitting in my front yard.
  13. It's been a rollercoaster for him. We'll see where it ends. If the Sox get in the playoffs, I'll give him all the credit in the world.
  14. I'm not sure anyone outranks Dombrowski at this point. Henry used to say "Larry Lucchino runs the Red Sox." My guess is that Dombrowski has full autonomy, but will listen to his scouts and others on his staff.
  15. Yup, I don't hate Farrell. I don't get upset when he's on my screen and scare my dogs out of the room. I just think the Sox should look to upgrade wherever and whenever they can.
  16. I agree that veteran leadership is important. However, it can't really be quantified. How can we say veteran leadership matters, but clutch is fairy tales and pixie dust?
  17. Marlins asked about Buchholz, but price was too high. I guess the Sox are looking for more than just an A guy. He pitched well yesterday. Maybe they think he'll provide good value for the rest of this season? Seems like he's right in line to have his option picked up.

  19. I didn't say Veteran Leadership wasn't important even though there is no evidence it really matters. My question is why draw the line at Clutch? Did the Sox win in 2013 because they had veteran guys on the team while the Cardinals had a younger squad? Or did the Sox win because of Papi's heroics and Koji's filthiness in late and close situations?
  20. I need some clarification... Veteran Leadership is an intangible that is important. Is Clutch also an intangible that is important? Which intangibles are ok and which aren't?
  21. What deal with the devil did Didi make to play like this? Also, do you think he will play like this for the next few years?
  22. I only have noticed his fall because it seemed like Dombrowski sold really high on him, which is something he needs to do with all his prospects imo.
  23. Beat writers can't rock the boat! Honestly, I saw more about them fretting over Wright coming in with long sleeves. I don't get it. The writers are useless for the most part. Speier is great with the analytical stuff, but everyone else is basically garbage. Would it be better if Henry didn't buy the Globe?
  24. The only leap Guerra made was jumping off a bridge.
  25. Huh? Guerra has sucked this year. What are you talking about? http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa736916&position=SS http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/padres-javier-guerra-struggles-continue-in-2016-campaign/ On Baseball America's Mid-Season Prospect List: "Guerra’s 2016 season has been a disaster. He’s still ranked solely on the memory of the power and defense he showed in 2015" http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/midseason-top-100-prospects/#PSzUCmHtIkt4fEFt.97
