  1. Sure, but the 2009 draft appeared to be a complete bust. Pitchers also take a little time to develop, so the Sox wouldn't see the fruits of this draft until they're on the next GM. It was a high risk/high reward opportunity for the Pirates, but only one guy has provided much value so far. Also, I'm not saying it was a wrong or right choice. I was just trying to add to the conversation.
  2. Probably?!? Did you even click on the video?!?
  3. Make Roller Derby great again!
  4. http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=pit&year=2009 http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=pit&year=2010 http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=pit&year=2011 When you look at the draft results, I'm not chomping at the bit to do what Pittsburgh did. Cole is fantastic, but Glasnow and Taillon are still unproven.
  5. http://triblive.com/sports/pirates/10594352-74/taillon-pirates-league Spud, the Pirates went crazy on pitching from 2009 - 2011. Would you be happy if the Sox had the same results?
  6. For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.
  7. I'm not saying you were. I was just saying even if they were allocate more picks towards pitching, the recent track record leads me to believe that they'd probably struggle to develop those guys.
  8. Being thrown out on a close play is fine. Being thrown out by 5 feet is hot garbage (ala Hanley). These aren't Dale Sveum's Sox anymore... There's no excuse for it.
  9. You also said "only other player" so I guess your research skills are just as bad?
  10. Given that DUMBrowski is the new guy here, it will be interesting to see if the draft strategy is tweaked at all. There haven't been any substantial scouting changes, have there?
  11. He played for the Sox?
  12. Spud, even if they spent the first 10 rounds only drafting arms, how many of them would actually pan out? The Sox have a poor history of developing pitchers. It seems like they are more adept at developing positional players. I'd say keep drafting the best players and use them as trade bait for pitching...
  13. There's NO question that Roller Derby is more of a sport than the Olympic decathalon, or at least it used to be 25 years ago...
  14. Hanley seems to run into a few outs every week. I'm not sure you can coach that out of him at this point. I just don't find that much fault with this coaching staff in terms of how the players are running the basepaths. It's not like they hired Wendell Kim again.
  15. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Sox team where the pitching was great and the offense sucked.
  16. Yes, some fans liked Francona, some did not. Some fans like Farrell, some do not. Just because you like Francona, doesn't mean you'd automatically like Farrell. Some fans liked what Valentine brought to the table in Spring Training. To each their own. The beer and chicken thing was a red herring. No one should care about that anymore and shouldn't have cared that much back then either.
  17. In the NBA, you barely get dinged up from contact. Everything possible foul is called these days. McHale isn't clotheslining Rambis in '16 NBA finals. In MLB, you have a hard object launched in your direction that is likely to break bones or give you a concussion. There is additional rotator cuff strain that pitchers face due to repetitive motions. To me, MLB may be less athletic than the NBA, but is more physically demanding due to the higher likelihood of sustaining injuries.
  18. Being physically fit has nothing to do with playing a demanding sport. Is a 7 footer who jogs back and forth and can barely jump playing a more physically demanding sport than a starting CF? That's up to interpretation. Is your question really "which sport requires the most aerobic exercise?" Maybe you need to provide a better description of what you mean by "physically demanding."
  19. Gomes isn't doing anything these days?
  20. Damon refused to come back here when he was on the Tigers. Screw him as well.
  21. Based on injuries: NFL > NHL > MLB > NBA
  22. But then how would you know if hot single asian ladies were in your area?
