  1. There aren't many good ones this year.
  2. Renfroe only had 70 RBI this year. Meh. Benintendi had 5 HR. For a slow LF only guy, that's not what I'm putting out there considering he had a career high BABIP that probably isn't going to be a repeated.
  3. Dude is bottom 1% in total Barrels given up. He's been a little unlucky this year, but he's very overpaid. If you look at his statcast, it just reeks of mediocrity. He's a middle rotation guy who gets a lot of WAR because he eats a lot of innings a la Rick Porcello.
  4. There weren't too many of us on here complaining about the Barnes extension when he signed it. I still have faith he can provide future value.
  5. I think you're overselling Whitlock and underselling guys like Casas and Mayer.
  6. German is in their plans for getting some run next year, but I don't think he's ready to be a late inning arm. Right now, he's a 6th inning guy. Until he develops better offspeed stuff, he's limited at the MLB level.
  7. Kelly will most likely be on the opening day roster. Bazardo is 50/50. I think Valdez starts off in AAA and they wait for him to knock down the door. If he was RH, he'd have an inside track to more playing time most likely.
  8. No, Kimbrel stinks. Was just saying it’s more likely than Diaz.
  9. Well, not every can be as smart and good looking as me. It's my cross to bear.
  10. Probably would have huh.
  11. They had set up a rotation with Sale, Wacha, Eovaldi and Hill. It was more than obvious that they'd need to wait on the side of the road for AAA a few times this year. Not having a better plan or Houck already up and running on day one is malfeasance IMO. When you get to the TOR series where Houck is out, just sign some schlub off the street or call up a AAA guy for a spot start rather than moving everything around to make matters worse.
  12. That doesn't sound right. If the Badlands were in South Dakota, I'm sure they'd do a better job of marketing them rather than that mountain that they desecrated with some dynamite and chainsaws.
  13. It's why you don't fill up your payroll with James Paxton $$$ and older players like Rich Hill, Michael Wacha, Nathan Eovaldi and Chris Sale that inevitably need IL time. It was a bad plan. They needed some workhorses. They needed the Martin Perez type signings to just throw reasonable innings. In the past, Bloom was willing to throw Ryan Weber out there as a starter. If that was the case, why jerk Whitlock around midseason and just grab a low ceiling AAA guy or churn throw the Brad Peacocks of the world?
  14. It's more likely they bring Kimbrel back IMO.
  15. I hesitated in putting him on the list. I didn't remember that he had 14 saves last year.
  16. I like Whitlock in the rotation too. Houck and Schreiber are both good late inning arms. Trading for a young closer usually costs a lot in prospect capital. We haven't seen a trade like that from Bloom yet. Would be interesting to see what he'd be willing to part with.
  17. And Houck had been used as a starter the prior season. It made sense to keep him there if that was the plan. It also made sense to transition him to the bullpen because he's not really a closer. I can see why they'd rather have Whitlock in the rotation. Long term, I'd rather have Whitlock in the rotation too. However, I think moving these two guys around so quickly early in the season didn't make a whole lot of sense. Don't use those two to plug holes. Figure out their roles in the Spring Training and use other pieces to fill emergency gaps throughout the season as needed.
  18. Ok, but I think regardless of injury, it doesn't set up either player for success. It was a bad plan.
  19. Jerking around two young pitchers like that was a s*** move. As the results showed, they shouldn't have done that. The bullpen to starter pipeline is usually done with much more care than we saw this year. I'm not going to say this was Dusty Baker level ********, but this is the one thing that really irked me this year more than anything.
  20. FA Options (reliability may vary): Jansen Robertson Treinen (option probably gets picked up) Colomé Kimbrel Montero
  21. If we go into next season with the Red Sox having question marks in the OF and an ugly relief corps, I'm going to lose my mind...
  22. Did you expect the O's to win 30+ more games this season? Did you expect the ALCS Sox to drop 20? s*** changes year to year.
  23. The one thing I struggle with who to blame is the decision on Houck and Whitlock. Both of those guys were kind of put into pitching purgatory again this season with neither having an idea if they'd be a starter or reliever. They both got yanked around from day one and both wound up with injuries. Related?
  24. Next year is his Judgment Night.
  25. Thank you. I try to have a little fun on Friday.
