  1. If Henry tightens his belt, fans will notice.
  2. If they win out the rest of the season, I don't think it'll carry over into next year. Last year's run into the playoffs didn't carry over into this year, that's for sure.
  3. If they offered him 25AAV, he probably stays. I believe he's worth more to the Sox than to a new organization. The Sox have a recent history of being a competitive team that wins championships. Leaving because of a down year or two to go elsewhere would be foolhardy.
  4. It took Moore 7 years to get the Royals above .500. They've been below .500 for the past 6 seasons. What makes you think he'd be a good fit here?
  5. According to Statcast, his swing would die in Fenway even more than it already has. Bellinger is a really unique case. It's really hard to say what his market is. He has the ceiling of an MVP player, but if someone told me he was retired by age 30, I wouldn't be surprised either.
  6. It would have gotten them under the salary cap.
  7. Why would the Sox get nothing back after including money to trade JD to another team. He was a 3 win player last year and the DH expanded to the whole league this offseason, which most teams thought was going to happen before it actually did.
  8. In my scenario, JD would have already been traded prior to the season.
  9. If JD is offered a QO, there is no way in Hell that he's turning it down.
  10. They could have still traded Eovaldi, JD and Vaz prior to this season. They probably would have traded Hill and Wacha if those two hadn't each hit the IL before the deadline.
  11. It's not "reputation" that Frazier lacks in CF, it's "ability."
  12. So instead of having another expiring contract (Kiké) just coming off the books, they did something about it.
  13. But even you said you didn't want a fire sale?
  14. Since 2019, most of Pham's starts have been in LF though. I think Kiké's defensive versatility and ability in CF is why he gets a pay bump. Pham only playing LF is a bit of a liability.
  15. Ok, but Duran couldn't play CF and couldn't hit either. So, that means they had to find someone to play CF for at least 2023. CF FA's: Aaron Judge (31 years old, 14.8 WAR) Brandon Nimmo (30, 7.4) PROBABLY A BETTER OPTION FOR RF? WILL SIGN FOR MORE THAN 10M. Kevin Kiermaier (33, 3.7) -- Club option Odubel Herrera (31, 1.9) Lorenzo Cain (37, 1.0) Kevin Pillar (34, 0.8) Jake Marisnick (31, 0.8) Delino DeShields (29, 0.2) Travis Jankowski (32, 0.2) Billy Hamilton (32, 0.1) Shogo Akiyama (34, -0.6) Jackie Bradley Jr. (33, -1.9) -- Mutual option (LOL) So of the above, the only options are Nimmo, Judge and Kiermaier. The Rays will probably pick up Kiermaier's option. Nimmo and Judge are more expensive than Kiké, but I'd put either in RF. Kiké's contract doesn't prevent the Sox from signing either of the two. The other players listed above are garbage.
  16. Who?
  17. Because they believe he's worth 10M and want to keep him around?
  18. Uh ring a ding ding.
  19. From Day 1?
  20. Who said he's the best available 10M player? This isn't the argument anyone is making except yourself. What do you think he'd get on the open market?
  21. How much do you think he would have signed for on the open market if the Red Sox didn't offer him a contract?
  22. No, you said Kiké was expensive. How is that dumpster diving? Do you know what dumpster diving is?
  23. That's a hole they need to fill. They filled it with Kiké. Which everyday player FA are you going to pick up that is cheaper than 10M then to fill one of the holes? And why couldn't the Sox still pick them up? They are letting JD walk. Couldn't they use JD money to pick your guy up?
  24. You can't fill those holes cheaply. That's what you do if you are dumpster diving. Are you calling for dumpster diving? If there are lots of holes, not every hole is going to be filled with a 20M player. Filling them with Kiké's are your best bet. Aren't you the guy that says Henry should pay whatever in payroll? Who cares if he's overpaying for Kiké then? Who cares if he goes over the luxury tax? It shouldn't matter to you?
  25. Kiké has a 107 wRC+ since coming back from the IL in August. 260 BA 730 OPS Extrapolated over a full season that'd be 11 HR, 85 RBI, 85 R for you old school guys.
