  1. You might need to tune that drum a little because it sounds off to me.
  2. The Yanks have to re-sign him. Unless they think something is medically wrong with him, there is no reason to let him walk.
  3. He has a club option. Padres aren't pickup up that option.
  4. I don't think the Sox are all that unique in pricing this way. I'd rather they charge more vs the Yankees than spread it out over the whole season.
  5. It's going to be the offseason that Wil Myers finally makes his way to the Red Sox. He's RHB, plays 1B/OF.
  6. I see the confusion. When you said "great expenditure" you meant "it's not an excessive expenditure." I thought you meant "it's not a very good expenditure."
  7. Maybe they are following their plan and we just don't like it?
  8. It takes me back to the good ole' days. Dojji should post again because someone needs to be a Nick Sogard stan on here. Tyler McDonough is due for a bounce back next year! Anyone want to re-litigate Jesus Montero vs Jarrod Saltalamacchia?
  9. Why? Having good players is bad?
  10. So they get most of JD's money? Fine with me. Whatever is left over can go to a cheap DH.
  11. He has a career OPS of 699 in A ball and is a UTIL guy, not a SS. I don't know what kind of jump you are expecting. This is a Dojji level reach IMO.
  12. Exactly.
  13. He's already put up better numbers in AAA than Lars ever did. Lars topped out at AA.
  14. Who?
  15. It screams "PAYROLL FLEXIBILITY" to me.
  16. Bogey and Devers are already on payroll. How would they take up the remaining payroll of all the other players leaving town?
  17. Ben had a disaster of an offseason where he signed Panda and Hanley for no apparent reason and the team just s*** the bed. Going from Sept 2011 to Bobby B's 2012 to WS 2013 to last place 2014 where integral parts were traded to last place 2015 where Panda and Hanley were added was just a really wild ride.
  18. He's playing winter ball in the DR this offseason. I think he just needs reps. He was put through the ringer last season with the Olympics nonsense. This year he had the injuries. If he gets consistent playing time, he should be fine. I'd also be worried about him developing bad habits at the WOO launching pad if he was there too long. In AAA: 863 OPS 389 OBP
  19. 1. How is re-signing Devers and Bogey improving the team? 2. When we let Betts go, fans assumed we'd... (upgrade) 3-4 positions. That hasn't really happened yet. Um, so you don't improve if you re-sign them and you don't improve if you let them go?
  20. IDK, pre-Henry days, people pointed to ownership being the primary problem of the Sox. If the purse strings are once again tightened, the fingers may point that direction again. Unlike the NBA, NHL and NBL, the MLB doesn't have a true salary cap. Henry could theoretically pay whatever he wants. It's a choice. The fans will turn on him if he's no longer Daddy Warbucks.
  21. If Henry tightens his belt, fans will notice.
  22. If they win out the rest of the season, I don't think it'll carry over into next year. Last year's run into the playoffs didn't carry over into this year, that's for sure.
  23. If they offered him 25AAV, he probably stays. I believe he's worth more to the Sox than to a new organization. The Sox have a recent history of being a competitive team that wins championships. Leaving because of a down year or two to go elsewhere would be foolhardy.
  24. It took Moore 7 years to get the Royals above .500. They've been below .500 for the past 6 seasons. What makes you think he'd be a good fit here?
  25. According to Statcast, his swing would die in Fenway even more than it already has. Bellinger is a really unique case. It's really hard to say what his market is. He has the ceiling of an MVP player, but if someone told me he was retired by age 30, I wouldn't be surprised either.
