RE: Kiké at SS.
He ranks 17th/35 in qualified SS arm strength, (Xander is 33rd, food for thought), and 38th/40 in Outs Above Average (Xander is #1 in that category, also food for thought). So in aggregate, Kiké is bad, and he should feel bad.
They should've buttressed the SS position. They love versatility, but SS is a position that requires a very specific skillset. A good 2B can have great range with a below average arm, a good 3B can have below average range if he has a strong arm, but a SS needs both range and arm. In my opinion, Kiké ain't it.
This team has enough money to gamble big on a pitcher with upside. I personally don't like that strategy, but that's a mistake the Rays can't make that the Sox can. Need to be cautious, but not to the point of not improving the team's present without sacrificing its future.
Of the entire rotation, the only one who has an actual excuse to not provide IP is Bello. He's a rookie, and he still provided run prevention, thus giving the team a chance to win.
