  1. Grade A+ sarcasm right there.
  2. Top SP and position players are hitting 35-40 mil. I think that's fair.
  3. That's why the formula assigns a lesser value to relievers by design, and I agree. But I've always sinned of undervaluing RP I guess.
  4. But in general, can we agree than an SP and a position player is more valuable than a reliever, regardless of closer status?
  5. I mean in general. Sox starters have the 25th worst ERA, and they're 25th in IP. They've been bad as a unit. But I must also mention that they're 9th in xFIP, which vibes with the general consensus that bad defense is an important component of their ineffectiveness as a unit.
  6. Is a position player not inherently more valuable than a relief pitcher? I think so.
  7. Not an issue of team M.O., it's an issue of terrible SP.
  8. I think it logical to accept that volume of IP is as important as quality of IP in the grand scheme of things. I don't see any relievers making Scherzer money.
  9. Love me some take and rake.
  10. Becuse it undervalues inning leverage, again, by design. If it took it 100% into account, reliever WAR would be higher. It controls for it, not account for it.
  11. Makes sense since in NBP they throw a lot more shuutos (reverse sliders) and not as many high velocity sliders (more sweepers) or high velo cutters. He will adjust.
  12. WAR undervalues RP by design.
  13. I mean Pedro did have a baby face when we got him.
  14. Sign Yamamoto and call it a day.
  15. That's assuming everyone else is hitting.
  16. There are many valid points here, but you can't argue that crappy defense is one of the main issues with this team's run prevention.
  17. He's actually 5th among LF'ers.
  18. If he's hitting, they'll find a spot between 1B and DH.
  19. I can remember at least one more right hander with a slight build that worked pretty well for the Sox.
  20. Aaron Nola and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are UFA's.
  21. ....that can't play in the MLB right now, and we have Kiké throwing away games at SS.
  22. Considering his entire body of work, I'd expect him to end the year much closer to the bottom of the middle than the top.
  23. The scouting report from his time in Japan is readily available, however, and it describes him as an average fielder with a below average arm.
