I mean in general. Sox starters have the 25th worst ERA, and they're 25th in IP. They've been bad as a unit. But I must also mention that they're 9th in xFIP, which vibes with the general consensus that bad defense is an important component of their ineffectiveness as a unit.
I think it logical to accept that volume of IP is as important as quality of IP in the grand scheme of things. I don't see any relievers making Scherzer money.
Becuse it undervalues inning leverage, again, by design. If it took it 100% into account, reliever WAR would be higher. It controls for it, not account for it.
Makes sense since in NBP they throw a lot more shuutos (reverse sliders) and not as many high velocity sliders (more sweepers) or high velo cutters. He will adjust.
