  1. To be quite honest, if I was a GM, my main strategy would be to develop pitching and pay for superstar hitting. Bust potential is so high for pitchers, that I'd only take flyers on guys with comeback potential on short-term deals. Then again, I'm just some keyboard warrior who likes baseball.
  2. Not with that K% and health history.
  3. He also has a terrible attitude, mind you. I saw the interview where he was flustered at the mere thought of pitching out of the BP. The gall. My guy, you suck.
  4. Bloom doesn't want to pay for starting pitching in the FA market. We've been whining for years about the Sox not being to develop pitching, and that's what they're trying to do. The issue is whether or not they're successful at it.
  5. They did extend Devers and sign Jansen, so they have that going for them, which is great!
  6. Ohtani and Urias look like busts in the making to me. The first one because he won't justify the massive contract, specially when he ends up missing 1-2 seasons with the pitcher rite of passing (TJS). The second one because he's going to get way more money than his ability dictates, but that's just my opinion.
  7. Pivetta should be nowhere near a pitching staff. He shouldn't have arms to throw a baseball with.
  8. Good post. Great, even.
  9. Doesn't have high velocity, great spin or great movement. He's giving up a lot of barrels and hard contact. We're not trying to develop a mind reading machine here.
  10. Yes. His stuff is not very good, and his outcomes don't match the quality of the contact he's allowed.
  11. Should be one of them. Also, tax purposes.
  12. Other teams also offered higher-value multi-year deals. But Eovaldi's a Houston native, dude wanted to go pitch for one of his hometown teams.
  13. Casas will be a beast, but we have to be patient. His approach at the plate is bound to be exploited by MLB pitchers until he can find a balance between being patient and attacking pitches in the zone.
  14. The Petco effect is overrated now. They pulled the fences in and it doesn't play as extremely pitcher friendly as it used to. Same for Coors at the other end of the spectrum.
  15. Defense can't stop homers and can barely stop line drives. At the rate Wacha's giving up barrels , he'll start giving up homers in bunches sooner rather than later.
  16. For what it's worth, Wacha has also been a horror show, and considering some of his value comes from somewhat suppressing BA and XBH even though he's below the 50th percentile in xSLG, xBA, and Barrel%, it's a fair bet to assume he'd have much worse numbers in the ALE and pitching his home games at Fenway.
  17. Wacha's xERA is above 4, even though he's been decidedly lucky with his outcomes given the quality of his stuff.
  18. Kluber's statcast metrics are a horror show and he should be excluded from any conversation about cEra, that we all know is kind of a weak stat anyway.
  19. Sox, as a team, are underperforming their pitching peripherals. We could be in for an uptick in overall pitching performances.
  20. I will be in attendance for both games tomorrow. I am very excited about it.
  21. Your sarcasm detector is frozen. Fix it.
  22. Wish granted! I really think soxprospects overreacted by calling Weiland a future BP arm! He has fantastic stuff and should be able to contribute as a member of the rotation right now.
  23. With the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation mired in uncertainty, why not call up Weiland to fill up one of those spots, while sending Wakefield out to the pastures, since it is time after all. Here's the scouting report on Weiland: What's not to like?
  24. And expressing disdain for the idea of calling up a player who's not ready is talking about what subject? Lin's upside is not that of a fourth OF, but rather a legitimate MLB lead-off man if he can improve his contact rate. Why screw with that by calling him up to fill a need that doesn't exist? Let him show he can handle AAA pitching, then he can win a spot on the roster for next year with Cameron and Drew both going bye-bye.
  25. You don't say? I'd agree with you if this wasn't the third thread he has made about Lin made this year. We've come to the same conclusion in all of them. Look them up.
