  1. Hamilton has a pretty nice swing. If he keeps it simple and doesn't try to do too much, I think he'll have a spot on this team for a while.
  2. A cousin of mine is the black sheep of the family, and he had the Nobel prize-level idea to break into the business of one of his clients (he installs security cameras, so the irony is not lost on me), to steal car parts for a clunker he decided to buy, as his clients owns a mechanic and parts shop. The guys he was with bolted, as they'd broken in before and the guy was on the lookout. He got caught, dude went at him with a machete, hit him in the head with a cinder block, and left him for dead. Because my cousin is an *******, and *******s are hard to kill, he's alive an kicking, and I'm left to manage his case and it's an interesting one. The police showed up and took money so the owner of the shop could beat him up, and they also caught him outside the property. This opens many areas of possible defense. This is the artsy part of law.
  3. Yeah you can work as hard as you want, but you also need the opportunity, which is kinda the point we're touching here. In that respect, losing Sale/Giolito might have been somewhat of a blessing in disguise. Then again, we're all speculating here.
  4. You stepped right into that one.
  5. Some aspects of law are science, not art. But litigation is indeed, more art than science. Administrative stuff (setting up SRLs, which is the dominican version of an LLC, mutual consent divorces, and land deed transfers) are very much science, which is why they are generally boring.
  6. Pure unfounded speculation about what would have happened.
  7. It's an art, not a science.
  8. Hey, some do pan out. Hi Jarren.
  9. What the f*** are you talking about?
  10. ...and Houck would probably be in the bullpen. So good for him, but also good for us. Also Bellhorn, do realize you keep feeding the forum troll. Always important when formulating opinions.
  11. But a lot of fans do seem to care a lot about how much money the team spends. Like A LOT.
  12. Most of what we say here is pure unfounded speculation. But pure unfounded specualtion becomess more logically acceptable after facts align with theoretical thinking. A new GM and pitching coach came in, and he was traded. If you ask me, it makes sense that it could have been a mutual decision.
  13. I didn't mean on pitch selection alone. He's a frail, older guy who looked like he hated the end of his time here, hence the "he's not a robot" comment.
  14. No what I'm implying at all. I'm saying the negatives outweighed the positives. And I agree.
  15. This is how I see it. I couldn't give a rat's ass about how much they spend as long as the team is winning.
  16. I'm still high on Yorke. I'd keep him.
  17. mvp78 was the main driver behind the wheel of the trade Duran train.
  18. I still think Yoshida's contract can be a net positive, but I don't feel the same way about Story.
  19. Rafaela is a good bet to provide value on defense alone though.
  20. Had it worked well for the last 4 years on the org? Another important aspect is that these guys are people, not robots. With the way the last couple of years had worked out, it's likely Sale wanted out of here too. Speculation aside, even if what he's doing is working for the Braves, it didn't fit for this system. There were just too many downsides to consider when you take into account, they really liked Grissom (with reason) and he may still work out.
  21. Point taken. But I would like to stress that not every decision taken for this organization is made because Henry doesn't want to spend money. Currently, there's a method to the madness. I'm still weary of this team's ability to identify veteran talent on large scale contracts, but I think the current org infrastructure is better prepared at both the MiLB and MLB levels. All of this is to say that I kinda understand what they're trying to do, and I don't they will be forever averse to spending, in spite of what most people think.
  22. It's just inconsistent offense.
  23. Man do I look like a dum dum for expecting to take a step forward. I wonder if the earlier injury is having an impact? A lot of his pitches are high in the zone, an usual indicative of not correctly finishing a pitcher's delivery.
  24. I don't understand why you waste your time notin. Chris Sale was traded at the end of december. By that time, the new pitching infrastructure was set, and Andrew Bailey had enough time to specify his pitching philosophy and identify pitchers who could adapt to it. Chris Sale is still throwing over 45% combined fastballs this season, in stark contrast to the Sox' new, (and so far very effective) pitching philosophy. It's very annoying to have smart people come to black/white conclusions about everything because "waaaaah Henry didn't wanna spend". On another note, Sale's fastballs have negative run values by most metrics (-2.7 for 4FSB, -1.4 for his sinker) while providing extraordinary value for his slider. Coupled with his health, and the Red Sox' clear need for a second base option, I don't understand the incessant whining, I really don't.
