  1. Yeah but starters are dropping like flies to TJS. I'll bet if we look it up, the rate of serious injury (6+ months on the shelf) is significantly higher on a percentage basis for starters than relievers.
  2. It's so hot here I feel like my nuts are stewing on the rare occasions I am outside the range of an A/C.
  3. Less overall strain because of lower pitch counts, reduced repertoire, less pitching while fatigued, simplified repertoire, better rest overall.
  4. IF He stays healthy. I'm not betting on it.
  5. I bet Sale gets injured halfway through the season and this discussion becomes a non-issue.
  6. A strategic vision without consistent execution is like trying to carve out a marble statue using TNT, and that has been Henry's problem. He has not stuck to the strategic planning he has devised himself. He has wanted to built from within, spend, build the farm, trade from the farm, and control spending all at the same time. Not how it works.
  7. You also predicted the pandemic, and both current wars years in advance.
  8. I'm actively losing brain cells over here.
  9. That Casas would get injured? Also, Chapman sucks (offensively)
  10. But that idea (which is excellent) would cost the league money, so it would never happen.
  11. No one knew Casas would get injured. Revisionist history.
  12. I'd rather protect the pets.
  13. Pick your poison then.
  14. Whenever Old Red and Elktonnick show up together on this board, both a puppy and a kitten get run over by a Yankees fan. Have a heart and protect the puppies and kittens by staying away, doubly so at the same time.
  15. That's around where max effort/max velocity really came into the MLB forefront
  16. There is no longer such a thing as a durable SP, unfortunately. They are all ticking time bombs.
  17. UZR has a double play component, but it's cumulative, so the margin for statistical noise is significant.
  18. They want to throw 100. I remember guys like Roy Oswalt, who would vary the velocity on his 4-seamer on a pitch-to-pitch basis. Now guys are pitching and/or throwing year round, and max effort, to boot.
  19. Double check. The real quick rise has happened with the combination of year-round ball and the focus on velocity. Heavy use of sliders and cutters was prevalent way before the TJS epidemic.
  20. That ain't it. Look for year-round baseball leagues and tweaked mechanics to increase.velocity through increased torque for.your answer
  21. Absolutely untrue, to the point where the MLB and MLBPA are jointly looking to pinpoint the cause of the increase in TJS specifically. I don't like posting from my phone, so I'll post some raw data tomorrow
  22. Velocity =/= effectiveness. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/kaleb-ort-672391?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  23. Oh no, I think it's already improved. But I think lack of depth and s***** defense will doom it. My bad if that's what it read like.
  24. Yeah, but something changes in his swing profile or selection after he acclimates to every level, and he starts producing. I expect the same to happen here, as he starts hitting some pitches slightly out of the zone that he's sitting on with authority, then pitchers will change pitch sequencing and he will fall off a cliff unless his swing selection actually improves, much like JBJ before him. Even though JBJ was less pitch selection and more moving parts with his swing, it's a valid comparison.
