  1. I'm betting that Rafaela will explode for a 2.5-3 month stretch after making some adjustments, until pitchers figure out another flaw to exploit. He's not Javier Baez up there, and the swing speed and power generation are there.
  2. Yet top pitching gets injured more often, SP give less length, and you have more chances against the soft underbelly of a team's MRP as well as replacements for the pitchers affected by the TJS epidemic. It evens out.
  3. I'm expecting overall improvements from last season from Casas, 2B (once Grissom gets going, and it was a black hole last year, so no problem) and Yoshida.
  4. Well, that makes it impossible to quantify. Quite simply, the Sox score 800 runs this season.
  5. I will make a friendly wage that this team, as currently constructed, scores 800 runs.
  6. We're not talking about the team's overall performance, but rather the offense. Or what? Are you expecting this roster to somehow make the playoffs? I'm not buying the smoke and mirrors of this starting pitching staff. My money's on them scoring 800 runs but being bottom 10 in pitching and defense.
  7. It's been 12 games into 2024.
  8. I'm talking about the offense overall.
  9. It's been 12 games. Most of these guys have proven track records of production. I get the overreactive nature of this thread, but take a chill pill.
  10. Quite pleasing to the eye, this thread. But this is what happens when two of what should be your best relievers are in the starting rotarion. The MRP corps of this team is another weakness to pair with the defense.
  11. Last night game's was quite the gut punch. Not surprised there's some animosity here.
  12. I'm really sad for the Story situation from the human side of the equation. I followed him closely during the offseason and ST. Hated the contract, but dude put his heart and soul into being productive for this team in 2024 and look at what happened. It's a freak injury to boot.
  13. Pivetta out with flexor strain. Expect the news on TJS soon, see ya in '26. https://www.mlb.com/news/nick-pivetta-placed-on-injured-list-with-right-elbow-flexor-strain
  14. Yeah no more Story this season. In spite of everything else, I feel sad for the guy. He put in the work, and it was a freak injury.
  15. Immediate PTSD with my oldest kid and those f***ing videos. Goddamn.
  16. I would eliminate soccer from the face of this earth.
  17. The Athletic had a pretty interesting piece today on the Red Sox and their revamped pitch selection, which has significantly lowered the amount of four-seamers thrown these first five games, which was a staple of Bailey's SFG teams. His philosophy is very different from last year's pitching roadmap, which had the Red Sox seventeenth in the league in percentage of four seamers (47%). Dude may be on to something here.
  18. Fisticuffs are fun
  19. So now you come around to that theory.
  20. You, sir, seem to be looking forward to engaging in a rousing bout of fisticuffs with myself.
  21. Dude's whiplashed from the failed pitching contracts, but there's no reason to believe he'll never spend again. Another thing is, does it really matter how much he spends if the team is winning? Trying to frame for context, because I couldn't give less of a s*** about payroll if the team is good.
  22. So you think it's a matter of the length of the deal for the Sox? Montgomery on a 1 year deal really doesn't make sense for them, but goddamn, at least it would show they were trying.
