At least I bought low on Sale in my dynasty league and he’s dominating in fantasy for me.

I have tickets to this game but the weather looks very very questionable. Maryland is going to get hit hard by a major storm today. I’m debating if I want to actually go to Baltimore in this weather and risk this game not happening -
That catch by Duran in the 9th was absolutely incredible. I love watching this man play baseball

That’s actually really impressive. The longest win streak I had was like 10 or so back when Mookie Betts used to destroy those bad Orioles teams at Camden Yards. I’m currently on a 3 game streak with two games in Cincy and a game in Boston, but that was after a 4 game losing streak with 4 games in different cities (Baltimore, Boston, Houston and Cincy)

I actually saw him homer in person in two games this year somehow. One in Cincy and one against Oakland in Boston.

Actually pretty sad about that. He wasn’t great but he was a great clubhouse guy and I worry about Casas actually being healthy and feel like we might need a 1B sometime again this season.

Yeah, I was trying to be more lenient with new threads, but a lot of them weren’t gaining traction or were just stupid threads like “Why is Cora so stupid” and it was a post that could’ve easily been in a game thread. It’s hard to find a good middle ground. I’m all for creative threads but it does sometimes make the site hard to read when it’s a 105 page thread that’s spread out over 2 years. -

The tradition since before I joined was is that usually it’s just first come serve, unless the Sox win, then that person continues making game threads until the Sox lose another again. -
As someone who joined this site when I was 14 years old shortly after Manny Ramirez was traded for Jason Bay, and am now 30, I can safely say a majority of my life I’ve been a member of this website. Shoutout to Yeszir for all the time and effort he put into building this website over the years and for building a great community, but I’m excited to see where the future of TalkSox is headed.

Even if that rule was implemented, there would be a clear “fake an injury” sign that teams would use as a loophole. It’s a stupid rule idea.

FWIW. Duran has had multiple gay and trans people defend him, saying he’s shown nothing but respect for them in the past. He just needs to remove the word from his vocabulary, and not entertain fans being idiots. I’m all for players chirping back at annoying fans, but maybe just don’t use words that are going to offend people or are considered slurs.

I don’t even think he hates the fans at all. I’ve been to games in Cincy, Boston and Baltimore this year and he’s very talkative with the fans, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. He signed a lot of autographs, was very talkative and joked a lot and took photos. I obviously don’t know him personally but he seemed to genuinely enjoy his time he talked to the fans. I think he just made a dumb mistake when he was having a bad day.

Completely agree. Duran calling a fan a slur and Houck deciding not to get a vaccine are not comparable. Houck not getting vaccinated doesn’t make him “stupid” and the comparison doesn’t make any sense.

I don’t know if there is anything that warrants what he said back lol. But I meant in general, Not that comment specifically, but I have a feeling that wasn’t the only thing he heard that day. That, while being blown out at home is probably what led to that response for Jarren. I think and hope he’ll learn from this

He’s definitely an emotional guy, and some fans deserve to be called out for the stupid s*** they do and say. I don’t really think these incidents of fans saying stupid s*** and causing a reaction fully paint the picture of what kind of person he is. Duran seems to spend a lot of time interacting with fans positively before and after games which is very rare. When I was in Cincy, he and Romy Gonzalez were the only ones to do so. I’ve heard fans say some absolutely disgusting things to players. I heard Carl Crawford get called the N word. He ignored it. I also once heard Yu Chang in Baltimore last year get called an “Ohtani DEI hire” and though it was funny when he said “im from Taiwan dumb ass”. Duran I think just needs some counseling or something of that nature and would be better off ignoring hecklers/annoying fans. Ans absolutely shouldn’t be using slurs to voice his frustration obviously.

I don’t think I could’ve had worse timing. I ordered his jersey and I almost NEVER buy jerseys, it arrived Saturday.

It’s his brand, and he’s been through a lot of ups and downs and is huge advocate for mental health among other things. He’s a fan favorite and loved in the clubhouse. I think he’s a good dude who’s just emotional and made a dumb mistake. I don’t even think he’s actually homophobic or anything, he’s probably using the word the way a lot of people do, to mean like “stupid”, which obviously is wrong and can’t be apart of an MLB players vocabulary. None of us know Jarren personally though and I don’t think it’s fair to judge him off one comment picked up on a hot mic. It’s disappoint this happened and he’s getting suspended but im still a fan.
