  1. Benintendi and Moncada's performances today should solidify their value and make them off limits. i have ZERO doubt that both of these players will end up being more valuable than Sale or anyone we could acquire. Stick with what we have. Don't overpay.
  2. I like this team, but the best pitching in the world isn't going to help if they can't win 1 run games. This team has crapped it's pants in tight spots all year. Not a good sign...
  3. THere should be no touching Betts, Bradley, xander, Benintendi, or Moncada. Period. At this point though, I don't even want Sale. I'm a big believer in chemistry and Sale makes me very nervous. I don't want locker room cancers anywhere near this team. I like Quintana and Robertson... but not for any of the aforementioned guys. I don't even care if we were to win the WS this year, I don't want to trade our future and farm. Not worth it.
  4. Just when I'm starting to feel alright about this pitching staff they just puke all over the field... Losing with 9 runs on the board. WTF...
  5. Man, JUST got underneath that one. Damn...
  6. Oh yeah! $60 million. That's $20 million MORE than the Sox have raised for the Jimmy Fund since 2002 with the Telethon. These guys are literally killing children!!!! The horror!!!
  7. I can think of about 47 million better ways to spend the $47 million between Price and Pablo.
  8. Are we really about to lose another game our $30 million pitcher starters and gets an 8 runs in support....
  9. I'll give you that. Sox got to be at least top 3 though, at worst.
  10. WOW. Back-to-back garbage plays by what is usually the best OF in baseball....
  11. It was only half his fault. Hard hit, but it should have been caught. Martinez looks really uncomfortable in the OF.
  12. Ugh, that was ugly. How long is Betts out for...
  13. 5 ER in 5.1 with 13 baserunners (11 hits) against a terrible lineup IS a disaster...
  14. I hope management has the balls to go with who ever is pitching the best at the end of the season when they decide on the playoff rotation. If the playoffs started tomorrow, I'm going Porcello, Wright, and Pomeranz (and maybe Price if Pomeranz or Wright struggle). I don't care how much Price is making, if he doesn't turn it around (oh please do!), he shouldn't be starting in the playoffs.
  15. Willie Mays was 5'10 and 170... A lot of power hitters started out really thin and I don't think 2 inches makes any difference in how good a hitter can be or how long their career will be...
  16. All we need is for Price to find a groove and figure out October and we are in really good shape. Even if Price doesn't regain form, I don't think it's unreasonably to think we could still win it all if Porcello and Wright keep it up and Pomeranz pitches like he has before the AS break. Adding another starter might still not be a bad idea, plus the pen is pretty beat up. But if guys can stay healthy, I like this team with the additions of the last few weeks.
  17. Only 2 x-base hits? Weak sauce.
  18. OMG Buccholz is in the game! Is 11 runs enough? Not sure.... Unsettling...
  19. It's really hard to comprehend just what Ortiz is accomplishing right now at 40 years old in his final season. Just unreal. Just gotta take in every last second we have left of this Red Sox Legend's career. Awe.
  20. He's probably had never experience such a big lead so early in a game before. Poor Padres...
  21. He pitched well in that stretch, i had no complains. His stuff was good, great K/BB rate, etc etc. No complaints. Looking at him turning the corner. But this crappy Yankees lineup, he had nothing. I'm not just looking at the 3 runs, his stuff was flat, too much good contact, command was lacking. I'm just worried about him.
  22. I know it's not his fault at all, but in my mind, Price has to pretty much match Lester, which, of course, I don't think there's any chance in hell he can or will do, (but i hope I'm wrong). This isn't like Jason Bay replacing Manny. Manny needed to go. Lester was a colossal f*ck up by the FO that I just won't let go because it was just so ridiculous. I don't care if I sound like that old-timer that who keeps talking about a 50 year old war. I'm a Lester fan and I'll never give the FO a pass for f*cking that up. Now we are stuck with Price when we should have the home-grown Lester. As for the "just let it go" attitude, what drives the greatest performers is that the don't let anything go, and neither do I.
  23. I'm cautiously optimistic that things will settle down now that we added pasta, I mean Pomeranz, and ERod might have started to figure it out (and Buchholz might FINALLY be kick out the door) and the bullpen should come together nicely once Kimbrel is back.
  24. True. Of course Bumgarner also has 3 rings, and WS MVP after dominating in his 3 playoff runs... Price... ugh... ....
