  1. Sucks for Wake, but he handled it good , besides I doubt his knuckler would do much in Coors field...
  2. Congrats Sox!
  3. Ive said all season that this was an adjustment year for Drew, and exoected him to produce more in the coming seasons, but one hell of a way tomake yourself known in Boston!
  4. You can do it!!!! You can do it all night long!!!!
  5. find someone to give u there mlb account info and password and then you can watch lol. Sorry I have like 5 people watching on mine already lol.
  6. hahaha I love Beckett, it's even better on youtube cause its not edited.
  7. I's like him to stay but won't hate on the man if he goes. Dice-K and Farrel have ( from what i've heard) a very strong relationship, hope it doesn't effect his performance alot.
  8. Maybe he has just had enough. Surprising tho.
  9. Has anyone else noticed the Sox look flat and delfated like the Yanks did in the ALDS? Beckett is the only pitcher bringing any intensity to the mound. Schill got knocked around which isn't too surprising. Dice-K looks scared on the mound. He needs to grow a pair of balls and attack hitters. He should take lessons from Paps and Beckett. Wake looked good for 4 innings which really doesn't do you much. Nobody outside of Papi,Manny and Lowell are do anything at all at the plate. I would have started Ellsbury somewherein game 4 to add a spark to this offenese. The series isn't over, but it's damn close, we need some energy on the field, right now we look like the no emotion, up tight, pressing NYY. To me it's been a good season and if we loose to Cleveland theres no shame in that because they are a very good team. In fact this series has shown that we still have some holes to fill. I think Dice-K will be fine, I tink it will take him a season to adjust, just look at Beckett last season. But we do need another SP to beable to count on and Schilling, Wakefield just isn't it. Wakefield should be 5th SP next season and that is all, just an innings eater. And unless Schilling comes back for about 8M a season( not going to happen) we should wave good bye to him.
  10. Guys I haven't made a game thread all season but thought I try it for some new Gamethread Mojo. I don't know how to put up all the stats and stuff so feel free to add in. Game 4 win not crucial, but pretty big Tribe counting on Byrd, while Wakefield looks to deliver for Sox By Jason Beck / MLB.com Paul Byrd is making his second start of the 2007 playoffs, and Tim Wakefield (right) his first. (AP) MLB Headlines • Rox the World: Colorado in Fall Classic • Gutsy Westbrook gives Tribe ALCS lead • Rox remain postseason's hottest show • Holliday named NLCS MVP • Angels GM reportedly stepping down • Big decisions imminent for Yankees • Complete NLCS coverage • Rockies' organization kept faith in plan • More MLB Headlines ADVERTISEMENT e-mail this page • 2007 postseason schedule • Buy postseason gear: Guardians | Red Sox • Game 4 starters: Wakefield | Byrd • Sign up for MLB.com's Postseason Package • Complete ALCS coverage CLEVELAND -- The math suggests it's not a must-win game, especially given the comebacks in Red Sox postseason history. Yet given what awaits the Sox and Guardians, Game 4 could decide the command of the American League Championship Series. Out of the 10 other times that the ALCS was tied at 1-1 since going to a best-of-seven format in 1985, eight Game 3 winners have gone on to win the series. However, the Guardians know that the pattern has exceptions. They got to the World Series in 1995 after dropping Game 3 to the Mariners to face a 2-1 series deficit. Three years later, they took a 2-1 series lead before the '98 Yankees showed their dominance by winning three straight games. The Tribe also came home with a 1-1 series tie 10 years ago before taking Game 3 from the Orioles. The key was to follow it up with a Game 4 win, which they pulled off with a walk-off victory. From there, the Guardians went on to win the series in six. Paul Byrd can't clinch this one for them, unlike the AL Division Series. Yet a win on Tuesday night would put them one win away from the World Series with their big duo of C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona coming back around in the rotation for rematches in Games 5 and 6 (if necessary). Their struggles in the first two games doesn't guarantee anything, but given the situation, the Guardians would be glad to take their chances that one of them could give them a shot. To get to that point, they'll first have to count on another solid outing from the formerly forgotten man of the Guardians' rotation. When Byrd took the mound at Yankee Stadium on Oct. 8 for Game 4 of their ALDS, he was the secondary figure in the headline story -- the debate over why manager Eric Wedge chose not to start Sabathia on short rest. Five innings of two-run ball later, that question was moot, and Byrd was no longer a bit player in the Tribe's postseason run. "I think the whole world wanted C.C. out on the mound, except for my mom, Eric Wedge and my wife," Byrd said on Monday. "So the fact that he went with me, I think it made me feel really good. I can sit there and get angry and say that I don't get any respect and I want to prove everybody wrong -- that's really not me. I'd rather be focused on proving a few people right, and he was one of them." Byrd's win in that game set up Sabathia and Carmona to be well-rested for the first two games of the ALCS. A win on Tuesday wouldn't affect their rest at all, but it would at least lessen the pressure on the dynamic duo as they try to bounce back from their rough outings over the weekend in Boston. Instead of debating Byrd, the question of starting an ace on short rest this time fell on Boston, where Game 1 starter Josh Beckett is coming off an 85-pitch performance in the series opener. Moving him up, however, was never a consideration, and the ball goes to knuckleballer Tim Wakefield for the first time since Sept. 29. Home | News | Multimedia | PhotosAs Byrd jokingly advertised it, it could be the slowest-throwing matchup of right-handed pitchers that a postseason game has seen. But it's also a matchup of two savvy veteran starters that could provide the most unlikely of pitching duels in a series that has seen all three games decided in no small part from struggling starters. Sabathia didn't stand much of a chance with five walks in Game 1, Curt Schilling was unable to hold an early lead in Game 2 and Daisuke Matsuzaka was gone by the end of the fifth inning on Monday. While Wakefield's knuckleball is one of the hardest pitches in the game to hit when he's on, Byrd forces opponents to hit his pitch by challenging hitters and issuing the fewest walks in the league by a regular starter. Whoever wins the challenge puts his team in control. A Red Sox victory would merely tie the series at 2-2, but it would give the dominant Beckett a chance to send his team back home with a series lead that could make Game 3 a distant memory.
  11. Put it this way example, I won't be complaining if he is in the rotation:D I just won't be shocked if they sign someone( no clue who) to be in the SR.
  12. Dice-K is due, lets go Sox!
  13. Yes I watched each of his starts. I never said he wasn't good enought, I said his stuff was great and def MLB worthy. He could start next season no doubt, I'm saying he is the Franchise's biggest pitching prospect( Probably ML #1 pitching prospect) and the front office is going to baby him a little. Especially since he had a tired shoulder. He went to the bp for a few weeks and still had a tired shoulder. His arm is not ready for a full major league season yet. This is the only reason I don't see him in the SR next season out of camp. He needs another season atleast to build hi stamina. I rather have him for the long haul then get a Mark Prior on our hands. Hes only what 23? Let him build more arm this season, and have a more polished stronger arm Buccholz for 09.
  14. ESPN said they are both going to run the team and have a say in all matters but for the most part Hank will handle baseball operations and Hal is concentration on the new stadium. Bye Bye Georgy, this is better then when Marge whats her name( she owned the Reds at one time) left MLB hahaha, I didn't like the old bastard but it will be kind of weird not having him around.
  15. 1B- Youk 2B-Pedroia SS-Lugo 3B- I say they atleast kick the tires on AROD, they offer a 2yr deal to Lowell, which he turns down and goes to the NL team the will givve him 3 yrs/36M. Maybe Youkilis if a FA 1B is signed or Carter shows somekind of D at 1B. LF-Manny, Unless AROD is signed or they get a 3 prospect deal for him I think hes back next yr. CF-Ellsbury, I think he has showed he can be a ML contributor full time. He has the skills to be a perrenial all star. I think Crisp gets traded, not sure for what tho. RF-Drew Beckett,Matsuzaka,Lester,Wake(if not retired),FA signing. Believe it or not Idon't see Buccholz in the starting 5 out of ST. His stuff is great and ML worthy but his arm is young and not able to take the strain of 180 innings plus. Id say he would be a mid to late season call up, maybe like Lester this yr at the fastest or be the 1st option for an injury fill in. I think Schilling leaves for the NL as well. Paps,Okajihma,Delcarmen,Lopez is the start of the BP, Theo will throw the regular s*** against the wall and see what sticks to fill in the rest. Getting back to Varitek. Ya hes not great at the plate, but I don't think the Sox really count on anything out of him. His main objective is with the pitchers, game planning and defense, anything Offensivley is a bonus. I think we do need to look for the Catcher of the the future tho, my 1st choice would be Mauer. I know big dreams but honestlet Minny can't sign everyone of there young guys, so he might become available.
  16. He's the closer, and I really don't see a scenario where they could get someone to replace him outside of KROD. JUst look at him hes ment to be a closer, his Fing head would explode from having to tone down the intensity:papelbon:
  17. I can't see Theo parting with the poster child of the farm system. Youk maybe, but not Pedroia.
  18. If we get him I'll root for him because of the uniform he wears, but if we don't get him I won't shed any tears. I will say this tho, Manny is going to have to be replaced, plain and simple, he won't be here forever. We will need a new RH bat to drive in runs and help maintaining the balance of our line up. If the Sox where to replace Manny with a power LH bat it wouldn't be the end of the world but LH power will decrease slightly playing at Fenway and make out two biggest threats LH.
  19. This is why you don't give Baboons alcohol...
  20. Hey Jacko, still take Wang over Beckett? Wang is a good pitcher, but Beckett is an Ace. Wang's biggest issue last night was that he was leaving everything up and was wild to boot.
  21. Beckett was awesome last night, truly one of the more dominant performances. The D looked good and we got some dood AB's in. I hope CC shuts down NYY, hopefully them not seeing him for 3 seasons will give him an advantage.
  22. Ya Jacko, thats prety damn close, that deserves the Sig. But your a good poster so I don't expect anything less from you LOL
  23. Beckett 20-7 3.27 ERA Matsuzaka 15-12 4.40 ERA Papelbon 1-3 37 saves 1.88 ERA I also said that Beckett would be a top 3 pitcher and be in the running for the Cy Young, so for my 1st yr of predicting it wasn't too bad.
