  1. I'd rather they not top it and try and get Haren for less...
  2. If they get Johan, then I think we need to go after Haren hard...
  3. Worse then some, better then others... He hit when it really counted so I'm happy with him playing RF for the future.
  4. Not sure what Oakland will be looking for, maybe... Bowden Hansen Crisp(doubt they need him but maybe the Sox ove Crisp and someone they get in return they can put in the deal) Bard Lowrie Moss Anderson some combo of prospects.
  5. With all the stories out there about how much $+ prospects its gonna cost for Santana, I think it might be better to go after Haren. With all the focus on Santana, maybe the Sox could sneak around everyone and pick up Haren at a better value $/prospect wise. I've already stated that i think Haren will cost less to extend and cost less prospects the Santana would.
  6. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3125389&name=olney_buster&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2findex%3fentryID%3d3125389%26name%3dolney_buster Olney makes a couple fair points in how hard it will be to trade Santana...
  7. This whole steroid thing is retarded, I know that at some point I cheered for someone on roids, maybe I am now. I don't care really, its a game and ment to be entertaining, im getting tired of this crap. If there so worried about the records then you need to divide basbeall up by era, 1. Hot Dog and beer era.(1940's and before) 2. Post WW2 era( 1940'-1960's) 3.Pre FA era( 1960's-1980's) 4. FA/steroid era( 1980- present) As soon as players are allowed to change teams for bigger money then this is when the steroid era begins. This where performance really =$. There now everything is covered, and another thing to chew on is, Take the guys from the beer and hot dog era, (Ruth prime example) and compare them to the lets say pre FA era. Pre FA guys at that time where just getting into weight training, healthy life styles, ect. whos to say those guys aren't enhancing there performance. It may not be steroids but they are def better off physically then the guys in the hot dog and beer era. Each era ive made up, the physical status of the players is far greater then the era before. So really the numbers of a player today should never be compared to a player of the hot dog and beer era because the playes is physically inhanced just by eating right, not smoking cigars or drinking couple pitchers of brew after each game. I know I have made this confusing but hopefully someone will see my point amongst all this mess...
  8. J I would never insult you, but your lucky I got there 1st, because there are some people on herewho will rip you a new one for using mlbtraderumors.com. As far as Graziano goes, they all think there in the know, in the loop and they all think they know what there repective teams FO is doing, but none of these guys hae a clue. Most of them are just making up trades that would make sense for both sides but never really get done. The only time any of them get it right, is when the deal is already complete and its eaked right before its announced and they run tolet the world know so they look good and act like they knew it was coming all along. Basically if its not coming fom the FO directly, then anything written about trades or any such moves I classify as rumor/hot stove talk. These people are sooooo wrong sometimes its hard to take them seriously. There job is to get to read and buy there papers, they want interesting, which is what they provide.
  9. J, never use MLBTRADERUMORS as a credited source here, people will read it and stop reading your post immediately. The only thing its good for is rounding up a few decent reporters colums and putting them on one site so I don't have to search for them all. The other stuff he writes and his so called contacts I give no credit, and neither does anyone else... As far as Graziano goes, well I doubt hes much more then his Papers version of Dan Shaunessey or Bob Ryan or Jackie Mcmullen who knew Dice-K was going to LAA last yr after the bids where placed an the announcement was pending, Faces who think they know but have no clue...
  10. Yeszir word is bond... All hail Yeszir...
  11. If ou was a fan before, there aint much hope for you... J as always I like your post and can def see it from yuor point of view. Another view is he has been pretty solid VS both all the way threw the minors.
  12. I don't know J, 1 yr he hits LH better, 2 yrs are very close and one he hits worse, take out the two extremes ad hes pretty much even on both. A math guy like you should have seen that:D I think Ellsbury is the lead off hitter for most games assuming he plays like he has showed. Francona will tweak the line up threw out the yr as always so Pedroia might see alot of lead off as well.
  13. Hunter is going to be the CF... Even if some say(not sure who) Matthews is better in CF, Hunters got the bigger deal therefore makes more money, therefore gets the position...
  14. Thats not the point. Teams arent't parting with thre top couple prospects, so you have to look at who else could be offered. And the Sox have plenty of that. And the teams like the Mets that will part with top prospects aren't better then the Sox 2nd tier options. Milledge has Milton Bradley written all over him, and there other top prospects are middle relief pitching. LAA has plenty of pitching and will be looking to add miggy most likely, LAD are tring to add Miggy and hardly ever deal there young talent away. They just like to block the with over payed veterans. Who else is there? The Yanks? Like I said earlier our 2nd tier options( not really great term but I mean not top 2-3 prospects) are better then theres. I honestly think that if the Yanks want Santana they will hve to part with 1 of 3 top prospects, I think we can make a very valuable deal without our top 2 in the deal.
  15. Ellsbury type year? Theres not too many of those man... Is Lowrie that close? Or that good to be a productive everyday SS? I'm honestly asking I have no clue. I've heard his name alot but never read much on him like I did with Ellsbury/Buccholz/Lester/Pedroia/Papelbon.
  16. hmmmmm Jenks might be available for a CF? Coco,Hansen+ another prospect for Jenks anyone?
  17. Santanna/Weaver/Adhart+Willtis+Wood/Aybar/Kendrick Any combo of that and thats a pretty sweet package for Miggy and just what the Marlins will be lookig for. Plus now with the OF and IF basically filled(unless Kendrick is part of the deal) so Fiffons could be expendable as well. If LAA gets Miggy to add to there already lineup with Hunter as well and there SP, LAA is arguably the best team in the league...
  18. Scaffolds, was Youk known for his glove in the minors Or did working with the Sox coaching staff improve his glove? If so then it could be thought that they will be able to salvage Carters glove.
  19. Youk,Coco, Lester and Bowden/Masterson. I'd do that deal, I love Youk and Lester but Santana is Santana and the deal desn't involve Buccholz or Ellsbury. Scaffods deal seems kind of light but makes sense...
  20. Wow didn't see this one coming, I think maybe this deal could lead to other trades for both clubs...
