  2. He can enjoy Boston another season, then see what his option are come next offseason. There will have to be someting better then the Pirates job available.
  3. Ok guys lets say meither is an option. Say Arod heads West and The Yanks Give Lowell a Damon type deal(1yr longer) then what the Sox give and he signs. The Marlins have stated MC is on the block. Should the Sox pony up some rpospects to get this big, young RH power bat would coult petentially replace Manny as the RH slugger? Yes hes getting big, but I think we could put him at 1B and be fine. Being around Manny and Papi couldn't hurt him any either.
  4. But it could backfire as well. If MC doesn't go to the Yanks or Sox then Lowell's price will sky rocket.
  5. Well if thats the case and his price is going to be so hi, maybe not, but I would be in the hunt right up until the end so it drives the price for the NYY to ridiculous extremes. The with NYY in no need of a 3B and a guted farm sysytem, the Sox can turn around and sign Lowell without having to bid against the Yanks.
  6. MC would be a nice pick up if it doesn't cost Buccholz/Ellsbury. MC has enough glove to be an adequate first basemen. This could be the RH bat that could potentially replace Manny. Most people compare MC to a young Manny and tat ain't too shaby. The trick here is to get him here without giving up Buccholz/Ellsbury. I think Lester should be an untouchable at this point, but some here might be willing to part with him for MC. The Marlins need an everyday CF, and Coco could be that guy. He does make a little money but it doesn't increase alot over the span of the contract. No i'm not saying Coco would be the center piece. But him plus 3 top 15 organization prospects should draw some consideation from FL. Bowden/Bard(anyone who throws 100mph has some value even if they havn't pitched good there 1st pro season)/Hansen/Lowrie/Carter, just to name a few. Basically like I said anyone besides Buccholz/Ellsbury/Lester. In all honesty any deal with them is going to have Bowden in it. With the 3 untouchables hes pretty much next on the list. Bowden, Crisp, + 2 top 10-15 prospects, any takers?
  7. If Arod shuts up and just plays and doesn't cause too many issues in the clubhouse then if they sign him they sign him.
  8. 5 yrs you have to let him walk, nd look for a 1B or 3B, with Youk playing 1 or the other. Papi isn't great at 1B, the D doesn't worry me as much as health issues would. I don't think Bonds will ever play in Boston. I think he comes here only if there is no other offers. Bonds and the Boston media could be a major distraction. You can want him here or not, but the odds of him coming to Boston are slim and none.
  9. The Yankees have already proven you can't win it all with " Names " at every position. No thanks to Arod, go out West. As far a Bonds, are you severally mentally challenged? Do you follow the Red Sox and pay attention to there moves at all? There not going to play papi at 1B for 140+ games a season so that Bonds can be the DH. there infield D would be horrid, Youks decent at 3B but he would not be as good as he was at 1B and losing Lowell just makes your D worse anyway. Some of you fans on here are starting to act like Yanks fans about 6, 7 yrs ago, you started to get rid of the small guys that contributed to WS championships and replaced them with over priced All Stars. If your playing Baseball on the PS3 then having Bonds on your team makes sense. But this is big boy baseball and stacking a line up and spending money on over priced, over the hill players doesn't pan out. The Sox mix of Vets, Stars, and Youngins is good. Lowell should be top priority, if they offer him 3 yrs at a decent rate he will come back. That means the infield and out field is set. Add in a bench player or two and Pitchers and your team is good for the beginning of 2008. Trades can always be made before July. I don't see the Sox in on any big FA, maybe a big trade if the price is right, kind of like Schilling or Becketts trade, kind of came out of nowhere over Thanksgiving. CF-Ellsbury 2B- Pedroia DH-Papi LF-Manny 3B-Lowell RF-Drew 1B-Youk C-Tek SS-Lugo 1.Beckett 2.Dice-K 3.Lester 4.Wake 5. FA signing, trade, fill in until mid season then Buccholz Paps,Oki,Delcarmen make up the back end of the BP, I would imagine the typical throw s*** against the wall and see what sticks method will be used for the rest of the BP
  10. Everything here mentioned was great and I totally agree. 1 of my favorite plays this season was the one where Ellsbury scored from 2nd on the past ball, that was just and exciting play. So exciting it made me attempt a steal of home plate in my next baseball game... I was safe!
  11. LAA,SF and CHC are my top 3 in no certain order.
  12. For anyone who can't see it on tv. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/14449455/index.html
  13. Just commenting on what I read, I too would be surprised if he left, but if he doesn't want to be in Baltimore(who in there right mind would with the worst owner in sports), the the O's might look to get something for him. But thats down the road I think. Who is the big name that you think(anyone) will get moved via the trade this offseason?
  14. Way to come back strong Jon!
  15. 3 team deal a possibility?
  16. Arod not coming to Boston, absolutely 0% chance of happening, the only city that has a shot thats not in Cali by my opinion is CHC. Arod does not get along with alot of Sox players, him and Tek don't speak( thats what my announcers where talking about during last nights game, MLB international, with Sutcliff and someone else doing the commentationg, I know everyone else had Fox), Manny might be traded you never know but I doubt it.
  17. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2007/10/28/leading_questions_addressed/?page=5 Says Bedard could be available. He would be a nice #2 SP for our rotation but he might come at a heavy cost, so not sure. Bowden, Crisp and another prospect or two maybe?:dunno:
  18. No need to post right away, enjoy the feeling of being Champions of the World yet again! But when thats over with, what do you think the Sox will do this offseason? Here's a couple things I see that could happen. 1. Coco is traded, maybe for a MRP, or as part of a bigger deal to bring in a SP. 2. Schilling signs elsewhere, unless he takes 1 yr at a discounted price. 3. Timlin retires or heads to St. Louis, Wake retires, or laces them up for another yr. 4. Sign Lowell to 2/3 yr deal.
  19. Congrats Red Sox! Great season and sweet way to close out my 1st season on TalkSox.com
  20. Jacko, we been trying to tell you all year he was going to do this, called it last off season and you wouldn't hear none of it, Sorry just had to rub it in a but because we got into some pretty good debates over it LOL. I think he goes to a west coast team, LAA LAD SF CHC BOS NYY and I'll say FL on the biggest dark horse. Also maybe he sees what the Yanks do with there FA, maybe if they sign them he comes back and signs for the offer they gave him.
  21. Those where pretty funny, that's good stuff LOL
  22. Schilling at 1 yr ok, but its got to be 13M at the most, it should be for less. Schilling is a 3rd SP at best and more like a #4, 13M for a #4 SP is a little much.
  23. I'm def alot less tense and enjoy the games more then I did before the 04 Championship, or it could be I'm in Holland and smoke a couple joints during the game... either or......
  24. I think they offer Lowell a 2 yr deal with 3rd yr option. this could be the hometown discount if some other club is offerng 4 yrs.
