    08 Draft

2-7 at this point of the season... Man who looks like the genius now? I took alot of s*** for saying the 49ers would regress and suck this season, and now that pick looks like a top 5. Anyone man enough to come back now and admit I was completely right and you all where o so wrong?
  5. Because it hasn't been reported yet on mlbtraderumors.com
  6. Lester,Masterson,Bowden and 1 more for D. Johnson and Haren? Is that a stretch?
  7. Theres no good arms available FA wise really. A bunch of maybes and hopefulls, maybe there trying to build an O that will carry them to the playoffs kind of lke the 03 Sox. Big O, not great pitching.
  8. I've said all along, if you can lock Santanna up long term then do it. But if theres no deal in place and he wants to hit the FA market then let someone else trade for him. If I had to choose I would put it like this, if you going to get Santana its gonna cost Buccholz and Ellsbury+ most likely, Haren I don't think will be as expensive, Santana(+contract extension)-Ellsbury-Buccholz Thats how I see, So I take Haren as a better value. Santana is obviously the better pitcher tho. But to beable to keep Buccholz and Ellsbury is very important. I think having Buccholz and Ellsbury makes up the difference betweeen Santana and Haren pitching wise.
  9. The only other park he might beable sustain close to his numbers is Philly, that place is like a sandbox. And hitting behind Rollins, Utley and Howard would provide him with oppurtunitys like hitting behind Papi and Manny.
  10. Throw Blanton into the rotation, what would they do with Lester for the yr? I guess Lester could be the spot starter of 1st choice of someone is injured.
  11. I take that deal. Blanton has stud qualties, and be a nice 2,3 on this team. And Johnson provides a decent bat and glove.
  12. Rolen- Pass Johnson- Pass D. Johnson and Blanton isn't a bad package to consider, all really depends on what it will cost us in prospects. Have any guess as to what that might be?
  13. 4 yrs 55-60M? Bye bye Mr. Lowell. Your time here was greta but you know and we know your not worth that much. This past season you might have been worththat much bit going forward I can't see him living up to that type of contract. Time to move in on the 2nd options while everyone is still trying to ink Lowell. I still say if LAD gets MC we should go after Laroche.
  14. I had a thought, not sure if its been posted or not but bare with me. I was thinking that when these votes were cast, think about what had just gone on recently at the end of the season. The Sox stumbled a little down the stretch and let the Yanks with in sniffing distance of the Division. Cleveland was playing good ball had a comfortable lead and Fausto and CC were unhitable combo that no one wanted to face in a PO series. Stat wise Beckett and CC where pretty close in most categories, I think that at the time of the vote CC had the momentum I guess you would say. Because after there PO performances it was clear who the better pitcher at the time was. Maybe next yr if Beckett and someone else are close for the Cy Young at the end of the season, the writers will remember what happened this season. Just a thought...
  15. It could have been Tito or Wedge just like it was CC and Josh. I still take a WS Championship over Manager and Cy Young.
  16. Great point Kilo. Lowell at 3 yrs is risky enough, no way should they go 4 or 5 yrs for him. I would then say Arod/MC are the obvious next 2 options... Arod(whatever his contract ends up being)+Buccholz+Ellsbury>MC(his extension)-Buccholz/Ellsbury. Thats how I weigh the 2 out. After that I think it'll be Youk to 3B and 1B replacement or trade for a prospect like Laroche. If Arod signs with LAD then Laroche becomes available for maybe a cheaper price.
  17. I posted this in General Baseball talk, http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/11/14/its_official_red_sox_to_open_title_defense_in_japan/ They will have like 5 days off after two game series, which will help them when they get back here to adjust.
  18. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/11/14/its_official_red_sox_to_open_title_defense_in_japan/ I'm not thrilled about this, anytime yo start a team over seas its not great but atleast the games are on the 25-26, that will give them like 5 days to get back to normal state side.
  19. You can tell the 2 types of fans on this site... The hardcore fanatic and the fans with reason.( Not trying to pick a fight, so I hope no one gets upset). The Hardcore Sox 1st for anything wants nothing to d with AROD cause he was a Yankee and has a different personality... The reasonable fan, wants the best player in the Game. Guys his stats don't lie, hes the type of bat we can rely on for the next 5 yrs+. Manny is going to leave at some point and if we don't have someone to protect ortiz he will walk 200 times a yr and be pretty much useless, which in turn makes our offense pretty thin. If Lowell gets a 4-5 yr offer elsewhere, see ya, I want no part of that deal, just like with Damon and Pedro, sad to see them leave but they weren't worth it, and the FO was right so lets trust them about these kind of things, there pretty good at this part. So all you out there who are screaming " Don't sign AROD", lets breathe threw the nose for a second and pick your knuckles up off the ground. If we told you we had a player that could hit .300+ 45+ HR and knock in 140 RBI's+ you would want him in an instant, this is all that should matter, what he can produce for the team, not his name. And when we get to the PO( more then likely at some point I would have to assume:D) The Sox seem to keep it lose in the PO and maybe it would help AROD. MC costs too much in prospects and will cost AROD type money if he continues to hit. AROD just cost money and his quarky personality which for me is no problemsun yourself in downtown Boston with no shirt in cooking oil for all I care. Produce for the name on the Fron of the jersey, and theres no need to worry about the name on the back of it.
  20. If they really are going after AROD, I hope there ready to play chicken and see who blinks 1st. I don't mind AROD on the team, but not a 10 yr contract. If you can get him for 5-6 maybe an option yr or two then ok. If he won't sign the deal the Sox offer they could let him seek riches elsewhere. Other options besides Lowell/Arod 1.MC 2.Beltre 3.Crede 4.Laroche(Prospect) 5.Youk( find a 1B, maybe Carter) 6.Tejada( don't want this one but i'm trying to think of all possibilities). 7. Maybe there some other 3B/1B prospect out there as an option that is realitivley unknown. Anyone else? What woul be eceryones top choice? MC is mine if it doesn't cost Buccholz/Ellsbury( I know FL would be wanting them obviously) but keeping those 2 is important. If no MC I try to pluck Laroche from LAD for some combo of Masterson,Lowrie,Hanen,Bard,Moss,Pauley. Maybe 2 of that groupf for Laroche.
  21. If hes not signed by now he probably wants to test the FA market. The chances of him coming back are falling slowly.
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3106431 Kind of an odd trade don't you think? I mean i'm no Tigers buff but aren't they pretty much set in the OF? Maybe theres someone on the way out for something.
  23. Nice job Duddy! If he did not get it I would have been shocked to say te least.
  24. I may be mistaken but didn't the Sox Extend Beckett before the 06 regular season?
