  1. A700 your great to have on the site but man you where so far off on so many of our rookies I can't really take your argument seriously. Lester, Pedroia, and MDC for Willis? I liked Willis to but thats just crazy. Look at how many key pieces we would have lost from this yrs Championship team. Yes I know we couldn't have known it back then but just don't be so quick to give up on prospects so early. Your far to into the "Name" of a player. Let the FO do its job and scout and trust them to put a farm system together. With all the home grown talent on this roster and whats to come you have to believe there good enough to play. The FO has proven it can do that, signing FA on the other hand has been hit or miss, but I still like the Lugo and Drew signings, I think rebound yr for both next season. Minny needs to sign santana or they might lose there stadium deal( I read it from either ESPN,Foxsports or SI, som legit site anyway),x It said since so much of it is publicly funded the investors can say the club lied and let the 2 biggest names on the team leave by FA or Trade. I believe Santana is staying in Minny. I have been one for trying to acquire Miggy, but not at the cost of either Buccholz of Ellsbury. There are alot of question marks about him, but also alot of upside, but I wouldn't trade the prospects mentioned above, anyone else is fair game.
  2. I still say both sides made out. From a buisness end I guess the Marlins saved themselves som money for a few yr until they have to extend Hanley. And at he rate hes going, he will price himself out of FL soon unless they get a stadium or move.
  3. To do as good as he did with a broken hand,( I'm no Doctor so i'm not real sure about the injury and it's severity) is pretty gutsy. Imagine what he can do with like 2 good hands.
  4. Jacoby hit 3 HR in the month he was up. It's not out fo the question to expect 15 hrs+ in a full season for him. I think once he fills out into his body he could be a steady 20+HR guy. Hes only 23 and hasn't come close to filling out body wise. Yes ballwashing goes on here for prospects but Jacoby deserves it. This guy is a player and we can expect big things from him. I don't want to see Buccholz of Ellsbury dealt, and if that means no MC then o well.
  5. Ya, you can't be to bright or up to date with the Sox to ask a question like that.
  6. Yes I was referring to one yr Santana vs 3 yrs of Kazmir. If your sure you can get an extension for Santana then yes of course youd do that trade as well.
  7. 3 yrs? I'll take that. The only reason for me not wanting Lowell back at all costs was I didn't want the club to sign him for 5 yrs. i was expecting a 4 yr deal to be honest, 3 is best csec scenarion for the Sox.
  8. I don't see him doing it but yes it would def have a positive effect towards him.
  9. Congrats to Youk for getting some pub. But thats about all the award is good for.
  10. Arod would be the better deal at 5 yrs even tho the contracts value would be doubled.
  11. I'll take Lowell, but not at 5 yrs, I'm not crazy about 4 yrs either but would be more repeptive to that contract.
  12. I was reading random articles and in a few of them it was said the Sox could offer 5 yrs at 150M. And maybe a couple option yrs. The tempting thing for AROD here in this deal is he would become a FA again around the time he could be chasing the HR record. I bet he takes that into serious consideration. And 5 yrs 150M of AROD is not a bad deal at all.
  13. Torre pretty much got the same kind of deal, and he was outraged, Schilling realizes what hes worth and wants to play on a contender with a solid team and he signs. Very smart move for both sides.
  14. It sounds to me that this might be one of those rumors to jack up the price. Or it could be a ploy to get the Yanks back in the race, maybe Boras and AROD think that if it seems like the Sox are in the top spot to get him the Yanks will jump back in with a big time offer to keep him out of Boston. Either way I don't care, if he really wants to play here then Theo needs to use that to his advantage and make AROD take less money then he would somewhere else. Said along time ago when the whole opt out thing came about that the funniest thing would be for him to opt out of NY and Sign with Boston for less money. As far as having AROD on the team I don't think it will be an issue. With all the s*** that went on in NY the FO and Veteran players might lay down the law as soon as he gets into town. Yes its true him and Tek arent best friends, but if AROD walked up to TEK and said all BS aside I want to win, I think Tek would give him a short leash. Its also been said that Manny, Papi and AROD are all good friends and drove to the AS game together this yr and also had dinner together( read it somewhere, cant remember where but its no BS, it was in an article). Whether AROD comes to Boston or not doesn't concern me as much as it might have at one time. I'll take him if he wants to play in Boston and win, I'll take Lowell if its not for 5 yrs, and Id take MC if it doesn't cost Ellsbury or Buccholz. I think one of the three will be at 3B/1B(MC 1B, Youk 3B ) next season.
  15. Erik Bedard-http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-sp.meetings05nov05,0,3443819.story?page=2 Scott Kazmir-http://www.nypost.com/seven/11052007/sports/scott_stove_league_846843.htm Santanna- Theres about a million stories out there about him being available, pick one. Ok, All 3 of these LHP could be available according to the articles above. Ya there no bullet proof but hey its Hot Stove talk. Would any of these guys be worth Buccholz+? Santanna at only 1 yr of guranteed time doesn't really do it for me. Bedard at 2 yrs doesn't seem too bad if you plan on ponying up the money to sign him long term. Now Kazmir is the really intriguing one of the three. Hes a proven #1 SP and his done it in the AL East and is only 24 yrs old. Throw in the fact he has an Career ERA of 3.66 and hes cost controlled for three yrs makes me salavate a little. You guys, I love Buccholz, but I can see his sealing being probably just as hi as Kazmir. This one is a truely tough call I think, what do you guys say?
  16. But if the Marlins demands stick to that steep of a price wouldn't most teams pass? And if they do, would the price come down?
  17. I realize sacrasim doesn't come across as well in typing as actually saying:D
  18. I said Coco and 2 prospects for Lincecum not MC. So if your going to try and castrate my posts, process the info you have just read and let it sit and soak up for a second. I mean I wouldn't want you to be one of those guys that scans a post in 2 seconds, think you know what its about then bash it, then pretty much look like a tool for getting the whole purpose of the post wrong... But I didn't know that this person was a little off on the facts(thanks Jacko). The MC post all I was saying is what could we offer to get MC without having to give up Buccholz and Ellsbury. I know its far fetched, I'm not one of those fans that thinks crazy lop sided trades will ever happen. I more or less state them to promote trade talk between all the posters.
  19. I was just getting ready to post that. Yikes, I like Lowell but that is way too much money and too long of a deal. I guess MC,AROD and maybe Atkins could be moving to the top of the list. Plus theres always the possibility we get a 1B and move Youk to 3B.
  20. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7400932 A part of the story say Lincecum can be had for a good bat. Thats not much for this kids potential, would the Coco plus 2 prospects work? Maybe Coco, Masterson and Moss? Just thought, let me know what you guys think about the option?
  21. No thanks, Glavin is about an 6 ERA guy in the AL East.
  22. I too would rather sign for money Peavy/Sabbathia/Harden/Lackey and keep Buccholz and the other minor leaguers then just have Santanna.
  23. Anyone got a link for Manny on Leno?
