  1. UP/: Drew- If healthy, I expect better OBP, maybe slight increase in power. Manny_From what I've heard hes going to be in great shape. I expect him to look more like the manny of old then last yrs version. But I don't expect him to be a 40 HR 130+RBI guy anymore. Ellsbury- full season will increase most of his numbers besides avg. Dice-K- Experience is key here, lower ERA, about the same for wins. Lester- Hopefully healthy, more innings this season. Lugo-such a bad yr O wise he could only be in the " UP" category Same: Pedroia- he set the bar hi, I expect close to the same with maybe a slight fall off in AVG. Papi- Healthy hopefully, maybe a few more HR, but lose some with AVG/OBP Paps- Consistancy, 30+saves and an ERA below 2.75. Beckett- I can see Beckett producing on the same line as last season, or really close. Youk- I don't see Youk getting that much better or worse. Down: Lowell- Obviously we should all expect to see a decline in his O, but nothing drastic. Schilling- I thought of putting him in the same or up. It's said hes coming to camp in great shape. And knowing this yr is his last should drive him even more. But until he prooves healthy then I have to say slightly down for him. Wake- Could put him in Same, but I don't see him duplicating his Win out put from last season. Oki- Japan relievers have had a history of being figured out after a yr or so. He had a really good yr and set the bar hi, so a slight regression is not to hard to see. I base all these off of the players general statistics for the upcoming season, AVG/OBP/OPS/HR/RBI/H/R/ WINS/ERA/K/IP/BB/S/WHIP Defense
  2. If i'm not mistaken he hit 27 HR in 153 games last yr. He plays half his games in a well known pitchers park with a huge roaming OF. Put half his games at Fenway and yes he could easily hit 30 HR.
  3. Sloooow time of yr... thought this might spark a little conversation... JayHawk mentioned a little ways back a possible, Lugo+Crisp for Greene, or something along those lines. What does everyone think? Greene wanting to be on the East coast, and given Towers and Theo's chummy nature could lead to an unforseen deal. I for one do it. JayHawk provided Greenes splits and SD home field kills his numbers. Playing in Fenway he could easilt hit 30 HR and play as good of D as Lugo. Just putting it out there for thought...
  4. Nice to see the Rox taking a little risk by signing there young stars/core of the team, to long term deals. Looks like that FO has them headed in the right direction finally. The NL West was a joke just a couple years ago. Now they have probably the best young teams in baseball with AZ, COL, and SD. The Dodgers are more of a veteran club but could very well be in the thick of the division race. The only sorry ass team is SF.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3202974 Nice deal for both here. Holliday is probably a bargin at that price. On the other hand, given Holliday's ML experience, thats pretty good money.
  6. Crisp will only be starting in CF if Ellsbury is traded. I think Francona will give Jacoby the Pedroia treatment this yr.
  7. I agree with you totally. Living outside the US has given me a different perspective of how our Country is being run. This investigation seems like a bunch of Q tips trying to get good Pub before an election run. This also seems like a distraction they are using. In one hand we have War issues, Economy issues, Housing issues, the Oil debacle, the fact the American $ is worth less then the Canadian currency. In the other hand we are fighting PEDS in our sporting events. Talk about a follow the birdie scenario. I know alot on here could care less about politics and these types of issues but America has become pretty much a standing joke outside of America. Alot of companys are starting to switch to the Euro as there main currency. People don't understand the dramatic effect this could have. The $ could very well end up being worth about as much as the Yen. basically worthless. Which leads to much bigger issues with the economy. America is at a big cross roads, hopefully the focus there attention and resources on things that need it...
  8. Don't get me wrong, I don't underestimate the potential value of the comp. picks the Twins would recieve. They could very well end up being big time players. But it just seems you should be able to get more for Johan, or a player of his caliber. But I like how Theo is standing pat and not getting to desperate. Because whoever gets Santana is taking atleast a moderate risk. I do agree with you on your evaluation of the packages being offered by our respective clubs. I personally wouldn't mind seeing the Sox going with what they have.
  9. This is looking more and more like Minny over played there hand and might get stuck with picks instead of top talented prospects. If NYM really like Bedard over Santana and get him, then the Sox are the only team left thats interested/ can afford him. I mean I'm not going to count out the Yanks, even if the guy running the ship is doing the hokey pokey regarding Johan. With Minnys options running low, Theo should offer a final package of say Lester,Coco, Masterson +1, and say take it or leave it, and either get it done or remove the Sox all together from talks.
  10. Coco+Lugo for Greene i'd do, maybe SD throw in a mid level prospect as well.
  11. One thing I can't get past in all these Santana related articles, is the fact that almost all of them think there could be a July trade deadline deal. Yes this could happen but Johan would have to back off his previous stance of trade me before the season starts or I won't waive my NTC. If Minny decides to enter the season with Johan still in the fold, then they better be prepared to let him walk and collect draft picks.
  12. It really looks like he might be heading to the Mets. Sox maybe but I think the Mets is more likely, which would be fine by me.
  13. Its worth the risk for ATL. The only lose a MR prospect, and only have to pay 2M for a season of Kotsay. Downside is with Kotsays injury history, ATL will be lucky to get a full season out of him. But maybe he puts up a big yr before he hits FA.
  14. Huh... Not sure how to react to this one. I guess its not bad for either team. Rolen was a malcontent in the Lou, and wanted out, I guess Toronto loses some power but gains a better all around talent I suppose.
  15. hahaha, ya good ol Hank should be holding a press conference for himself soon saying the Yanks are not interested in trading for Santana. Followed by the comment that they will only go 5 yrs if they do trade for him. But they will only do that if Minny trade Santana to them by the 2nd tuesday of next week... But the team would still be interested in Santana if Minny decided to trade him after the 2nd tuesday deadline...
  16. For one, Santana said trade him before the season starts or hes not going to wave his NTC for a deadline deal in July. 4/100M might sound good to us, but if you believe Santana and his camp, they won't settle for anything less then 7 yrs. He might go lower but theres no way he signs a 4 yr deal. Theres 2 most likely possibilities here, The Twins trade Santana for what they can get, or they hold onto him, cross there fingers and hope the contend in the AL Central and watch him walk at the end of the season and collect there 2 draft picks. As far as Carl goes, he may be one fo the richest, but hes also one of the cheapest...
  17. Sounds like Minny might have over played its hand on this one. Kinda funny, they have one of the best pitchers in baseball and no one seems too interested. Its also funny that whenever the a team gets named the front runner the following day they always seem to back off some.
  18. hahaha my thoughts also. Does this guy have any credibility at all? I guess since he runs things on the Yanks, he thinks he is entitled to the past success. This guy has done nothing but make a complete fool of himself when given the chance. His sense of accomplishment is histerical. He thinks everyone is going to bow down to his every whim...
  19. This guy is trying to gift wrap Santanna for either the NYM, or the Sox. If Santana knows hes only going to get 5 yrs from the Yanks he might Veto. I doubt hed except a trade if this was the case. Actually from another vantage point, if Theo also said he would only go 5 yrs, then Minny is stuck sending Santana to NYM(which is fine by me too) if they will give 7 yrs. Or Santana would have to accept a shorter deal. And if the Sox could get him on a 5 yr deal I'm all for it. 6 and 7 yrs make me weary... BTW isn't it against some rule for him to make comments like this about Santanna and an extension? He'll run the Yanks into the ground LOL
  20. Most would pass out from the s*** I smoke from my local Coffee Shop:thumbsup: This is all speculation at this point, no solid articles to go off of. I came up with the idea because of articles I has seen earlier where Blanton was available, and the one of the A's being hi on Coco. Oak likes Coco, plus Blanton being available, I just threw it out there a s a sort of what if. Like I said before Blanton would be a solid back end guy. He could really round out the rotation nicely for the next few years...
  21. Thumper we might get blasted for this, but I agree. We get to keep Buccholz,Lester and Ellsbury plus add a quality young SP. I actually believe this deal would be more of a Theo trade. Our FO has never been really known to go out and get the big name guy being shopped. The trades they make usually are a bit of a surprise( Schilling,Beckett(both worked out great)). I think a this would be one of those deals.
  22. If Oak is that hi on Crisp, we could be looking at a nice return. Blanton is said to be available. I know there isn't much room for him now, but if we could find room he would solidify the back end of the rotation. an 09 SP rotation of, 1. Beckett 2.Dice-K 3.Lester 4.Blanton 5.Buccholz drool............ Crisp + 1 or 2 prospects maybe? Anyone got any ideas?(I know this isn't being talk about, but news is slow an redundent. Thought this could spark some conversation)
  23. This is along the same lines of what I was thinking. You gave it a really good perspective that I couldn't get from my brain to my post!LOL
  24. This could be a ploy by the Twins to try and make the Sox throw in Ellsbury with Lester... I don't think Theo will buckle to this... Let the Yanks send out Hughes and company and throw another 140M+ on there payroll.
