  1. I like that lol
  2. This is a great deal for the Red Sox. Cherrington must be upset he had to give Beane Head to get it done though........... Bazinga
  3. I like them! I don't understand the hate. They wear them occasionally. Just think, the could have uniforms like Miami :dunno:
  4. I would like Santa to give me a time machine so I could storm the conference room and keep the pen from hitting the paper on the Lackey and Crawford contracts so we wouldn't ever have to see that meatball on the mound and keep Crawford out of town. So we would actually have a realistic shot at extending Ellsbury. Either that or drug Scott Boras so the Red Sox can extend Ellsbury. Trade Youk while he still has some value and hasn't completely fallen apart.
  5. I bought tickets for a game in August. The physical ones don't come in until the spring. But you can already purchase them. Either that or stub hub owes me $250 lol
  6. You can buy them now on Stubhub.com. I just got RF Box seats for August vs the Angels
  7. Good utility guy. I like it.
  8. What's the scouting report on him?
  9. Haven't been on much lately, figured I'd swoop in and stir the pot/swat the wasp nest. Not sure if this has been talked about(probably has, don't have time to go through 20 pages in the off season thread), A Youk for Hanley deal straight up would not work. But if the Sox and Marlins got creative I could see a match. A deal of Youk+Lowrie+SP prospect(Someone like Ranaudo) for Hanley and Nunez(or whatever the hell his name is) could work IMO. I'm not saying this is a certain package to get it done. But if things go South in Miami it could be an interesting one. You can plug and play with some different names, but Youk for Hanley is the center. Ya playing Hanley at SS may be brutal to watch sometimes, but I think I could stomach it. If they can get Hanley I would play him at SS and play Middlebrooks/Scuataro at 3B. I understand Middlebrooks is young and it may be rushing him. But if he can play a good 3B that would be enough with the offense they already have in place. Ellsbury Pedroia Gonzalez Hanley Ortiz Crawford Salty Reddick/Rf'er Middlebrooks is a solid line up. Plus once Nunuez(I'm too lazy to go search his real name) get's his stuff sorted would be a nice addition to the BP and possible CL option if Bard really does go to the rotation. Let the fireworks begin
  10. If they can get Wilson for 4/60M then I'd be ok with it. I like him, but something about him worries me and I haven't put my finger on it yet(I'm talking on the field, I'm sure he's a nice guy). Gio is interesting. Not sure he is the guy to give up top prospects for since the Sox have limited ones after last years trade. His BB tendancies scare me. Also I think other clubs could offer better packages and that would only end up making the Red Sox give up anymore talent. That and I'm always skeptical about Pitchers coming from Pitcher parks. I'm worried about any long term deal for SP after the Lackey fiasco. I hated the deal when it was announced and I hated every day since. Best news of the off season IMO is that he needed TJS. Only draw back is it killed my hopes of a trade for another bad contract. I was almost hopeful for them trading him to the Cubs for Soriano I don't think the Red Sox need to go out and over spend on SP, especially when there is no true top of the rotation SP available. I think they should try to fill the back end in with low cost or short term deal types. Oswalt on a 2 year deal(with maybe an option) would be nice. The rotation needs a veteran presence IMO. I also like the idea of Buehrle on a 2 possible 3 year deal as well. Sorry if i'm all over the place. Haven't written in awhile and kind of blurted it all out here
  11. 7th maybe 8th inning guys and it better not be anyone of note going the other way in a trade.
  12. Manager. Players want to know who they are going to be playing for. I believe this is step #2 of the offseason. Step #1 was promoting Cherrington.
  13. My .02 here. I was upset they fell apart in Septemeber. s*** happens and no matter how upset I get or how many heads rolled down Yawkey way, it's not going to change the fact the fell apart. So by about day 2 of the playoffs I was over it and already looking ahead to next season. I haven't been around in awhile but I consider myself one of the diehards. I just made a choice awhile ago that no matter how they finish I'm not going to let it effect me for the whole winter. Winter sucks enough as it is without being depressed about the Sox not winning the WS or making the playoffs or whatever
  14. Low profile BP piece is a safe bet. I'd say OF but Beltran isn't signing quickly and Cepedes(sp?) paperwork isn't likely to get done anytime this month. Nothing good happens until usually Decemeber. MLB free agency is the most drawn out ridiculous process in all of the major sports. Football was excellent this year. It was like one week of pure crazyness and signings like every 5 mins. Be nice if baseball made the process a bit quicker. I think FA should open 5 days after the end of the WS. If you don't know who you are offering arb andwhatever else by then you haven't been planning very well.
  15. Thanks for the help laser show, even though you have the worst avataar ever lol (just messing with you )
  16. Hey guys. Hope everyone is well. Been awhile since I've been around. Was a busy summer and I have a new job that is taking up all my time. I'm hoping to get back on here and post more regularly. I have a question about when tickets go on sale for next season. I'm going to be in the area 2 times next year and can't pass up the opportunity to go to some games since I'm rarely on that side of the atlantic I've looked in a couple places and it seems there are some for sale, but other places have them listed as not being available yet. Whats a legit site to use to order tickets and when will they be available for purchase? Thanks for the help guys, look forward to catching up with the oldies here
  17. This is Boras we are talking about here. He will squeeze it from someone. Even if they can't really afford it. It has to do with Ellsbury because Crawford's deal is going to be the most popular comparable when it comes negotiation on a new deal for him. As soon as Crawford signed he set the bench mark for the players of his skill set. Ellsbury skill set is almost an exact clone of Crawford's. Now add in power and it will be Crawford's deal +. Which pretty much sucks because I'm not sure the Sox will be so quick to hand out such a big deal. But anything is possible. This is just how I am feeling at the moment. Subject to change
  18. Now you think Ellsbury is a star? This time last year you were one of many trying to run him out of town. Anyways, ya they can build around him for the next two years, but that's it IMO. If he puts up comparable numbers for those two years he will be gone. Sox won't be giving him 140M+ contract to keep him around. And that is exactly where Boras is going to start the bidding war. Boras has had a boner since the ink went dry on Crawfords deal. He was the perfect comparison for Ellsbury. Now tack on a 25-30HR threat and Ellsbury's price just went through the roof. I still maintain my line of Crawford's contract is the absolute worst on the team. From a production and a ripple effect point of view. Lackey is a close #2, the other deal that I was completely against from the start. But as I am not in charge I will only gripe so much. I am looking forward to what shake ups the roster goes through this winter.
  19. I guess Pinella is an option. My guess is the go with a young up and coming guy that maybe we haven't heard so much about. I'm not sure they are going to bring in a big personalty type manager. I'm guessing Macha name is going to pop up in possible candidates that we have heard of. Putting what happened during the season behind us. It should be an interesting off season in Boston.
  20. Some things that I'll throw out there for possible things to do this off season. Shop Lackey- I know the market isn't going to be good, but a bad contract swap could work. I woukd be interested in a Soriano for Lackey trade. Sox need a RHH OF anyways. Shop Ellsbury- I've been an Ellsbury supporter from the beginning. Early on I even tried to tell everyone this kid has pop and was capable of 25+ HR to enormous ridicule lol But I'm not sure he will be able to sustain these numbers and with what the Sox gave Crawford last winter and Ellsbury being a Boras client, I seee it very unlikely he is with the team long term. So try and cash in now. Ellsbury for a SP could be a possibility. I would mention trying to buld a package around Ellsbury for Felix. But I don't see the Mariners having much interest in a Boras client 2 years from Free Agency. But maybe a 3 team deal could match up. Find a 3B and no not Ramirez. The guy is a statue at 3B at this point. We all remember what that was like and no thanks. I'm sure there is something out there. Big name would be Wright. But it looks like the Mets are better of financially then originally thought. Can Pujols play 3B still? lol I'm just kidding. I think you can let Ortiz walk. Papelbon is a tough call. A 1 year deal on Broxton could be interesting. I know they tried the same thing with Jenks and it failed. But still when it comes to the BP these types of moves are ok. Scutaro would be ok to be brought back for one year. Unless Iggy is ready. Lowries should be the teams utility player. He has proven time and time again he can't handle full time duty. Other then that, the core of the team is solid. I have no idea on who they bring in as Manager. I am a Tito fan. But I am ok
  21. AFC East Patriots Jets* Miami Buffalo AFC North Ravens Steelers* Browns Bengals AFC South Texans Titans Colts Jaguars AFC West Chargers Chiefs Raiders Broncos NFC East Eagles Cowboys* Giants Redskins NFC North Packers Lions Bears Vikings NFC South Falcons Saints* Buccaneers Panthers NFC West Cardinals Rams 49ers Seahawks *- Wild card teams
  22. Manning gets 18M a year for 16 games over 3-4 months. All the position players mentioned get their 18-20M+ over 162 games over 7 months. Just some perspective. #playqbkid
  23. I think the Rangers always felt they had a decent shot to re-sign Lee. On the Reyes subject, he feels like a bit of an overpay to me. The Sox have a strong offense right now(yes I know CC just hit the DL as well). I think the combo of Scutaro/Iggy/Navarro should be able to hold things down for now. But if for some reason they could get him at reasonable price(unlikely) then I'd be ok with it. Don't see them extending him, not with Iggy coming up. I wouldn't feel comfortable signing him to a Crawford like deal(which I'm guessing Reyes is going to get close to). But given their success in the draft, the compensation picks they could get for him would be valuable. So I wouldn't mind him being a rental. Besides the Sox may have more pressing needs at the back end of the rotation and possibly the OF.
  24. Looks like it's a real possibility. Guy has always had talent. And power LHP tend to develop late. But he still has to produce at the ML level. And I'm actually kind of looking forward to see what he's got. Possibly because I chose him in the 1st Anti- Fantasy league draft :-D But still
  25. Great news. Although I would have been confident in Lowrie, Scutaro and Iglesias filling in the MIF for the month Pedroia was supposedly going to miss.
