  1. Good for him. That turf is not going to be kind to him. But it's not as though he will be playing a ton. If you want to play, and someone wants to sign you, go for it.
  2. Activating the option will save them money now. Which is what they really need. It's the league minimum for the last season. It would cost them next to nothing to cut him and be done with him anyways. Hell they have paid way more then that to have SS play for other teams. If it's true and this can drop his AAV and get the Sox a couple more million to work with over the next few years, then it's worth it IMO.
  3. God no to Wandy... That would be an awful move IMO. I thought Lackey's option triggered as soon as he had TJ? Would be great cause that will really lesson his AAV and help the Sox cap crunch about now. Could be the best thing he will ever do in a Boston uniform.
  4. That's about as optomistic a view as you can get. He had surgery in mid-June. So that's his 12 month mark. Dice-K has never shown the ability to pitch with discomfort, so I doubt very much he will be ready at the earliest pitchers are expected back from TJS. I think he will be lucky to be in the Majors by September. IMO he makes a cameo in September, if the Sox are in the playoffs maybe just maybe makes an appearence then leaves for the West coast on a one year rebuilding value deal to the Dodgers, Giants or Padres.
  5. I think some who are compairing McDonald- Ross are forgetting park factors when saying McDonald had the better season. Ross played his home games and his divison road games in the biggest pitching park divisions in all of baseball. He has a chance to rake at Fenway IMO.
  6. No chance he pitched 50 ML innings this year. He will be lucky to throw 50 at all.
  7. I'd start Iglesias. Bat him 8th or 9th and hope that his superb defense serves the pitching staff well.
  8. Wtf is with all these guys getting in under false names? Anyone else get's busted and Selig might be dusting off George Mitchell for another probe
  9. Woooot got RF box seats for August 22nd Vs the Angels! First time I've been to Fenway in like 15 years. My Dutch girlfriend who I have done a fantastic job molding into a rabid Sox fan has never been. She is already saying Boo-jols lol
  10. No, in late mid or late April the day when they calculate the LT is over and they can add payroll then and not get the penalty. It's the same reason they waited to sign Agon last year. It's not 100% as they still went over this year, but I'm guessing they are trying to stay under and will wait even later this season to try to avoid the penalty. Are you serious about no impact players will be available after April? You do realize I was talking more the just FA. of course all the impact FA will be gone. But there will be plenty of players available to be traded for up until the TDL like there is every year.
  11. I think the Sox will add players later in the season. They need to stay under the LT until late April. After that it's all on next years payroll. That and there will be new players available at the deadline that may not be available at this moment.
  12. I'm hoping this is a ploy to try and get 2/20M. With how close to the LT the Sox are they might add a year to save a couple million this season. Just a thought.
  13. As far as Floyd goes, I would be interested in him. Might not cost a ton. Just wait for Williams to have one of bi-polar days and the Cherrington might be able to steal him away from Chicago.
  14. I'm starting to feel the same way about the medical staff.
  15. This pretty much guarantee's the Sox will be getting practically nothing from the Cubs for Theo leaving. Selig doesn't want FO personal to be valued highly. The Sox will probably get 1M for their troubles. If there was any justice in the world the Cubs would have to take Crawford and or Lackey
  16. A rush of wanking jokes comes to mind as the reason for his wrist issues. I used to like Crawford. But this guy is doing his best to become my most dis-liked Red Sox player(Jughead Lackey holds that honor at the moment). It's sad that him missing time is probably the best thing he's done since signing with the team(that goes for Lackey too). I'm usually very optimistic about players, I just don't ever see myself warming up to CC. Maybe at some point he will be good enough for me to tolerate. I mean I don't blame the guy for signing with the Sox, I would have taken the money too. I guess I'm more upset with his production and the fact we will lose Jacoby, a far superior player because of his deal. I supported almost everything Theo did while in charge. This is one thing that I may never be able to get over. Most of Theo's FA bumbles stunk, but they didn't hand cuff the team like the Lackey and CC deals have done. Ok, end of rant, everyone enjoy your day
  17. WTF I have no idea how this ended up in the Game forum.... If a Mod is around could you please move this thread. Thanks
  18. Why in the hell did he wait until now to have surgery? He's had 3 months to sort this crap out... Just another thing to add to the list why I dislike this clown... On a positive note, with no Dice-K, Lackey and Crawford to start the season it almost guarantee's a winning in April
  19. I think he should get a shot at starting. I believe if he can develop a league average 3rd pitch he has a good chance to be a Solid ML SP. It will hurt losing him, but he is not irreplaceable IMO. Bailey/Mel have a good chance at giving the Sox comparable production that Bard/Paps did. I think it's easier to find a 8th inning guy then a solid ML SP.
  20. Oswalt and Kuroda are too expensive. They won't add any big money until after April to avoid the LT. They may add another low risk low incentive based contract before ST. But I won't be surpised if they go with what they have now and look to make a move later in the season. IMO the Red Sox off season is all but done.
  21. Ya because they will have to sign him to a mulit year deal that if he acted up they wouldn't be able to drop him with the quickness...
